Moving again...

Reality can be a shock to the system 'specially when you have to finally admit that your not able for it anymore...since my Heart problems last June/July I've been fighting a losing Battle against Breathlessness / low Energy Levels and the cursed Arthritis ...now that the Gardening Season is upon us again which is / was a passion of mine I'm constantly postponing Mowing the Lawns which I use to tackle with a vengeance, now it's more of a Whispered Whimper ...even my Carpentry has taken a back seat ,resulting in very little Physical activity and more time looking out the Window...

A few Days ago I nonchalantly remarked to Jean that I was not able to continue the maintenance of the Garden and being so far from Sligo Town was not good at our age and would She consider moving to a smaller more manageable Property within the Town limits...so Tomorrow we're looking at 2 Properties in the Town and arranging to put our's on the Market...

I'd still love to continue living here but at what cost...to see the Garden being neglected would be to much and both our conditions are not improving...The early Morning Walks are finished , I cannot stand for any length of time before the Backaches begin...I'm not expecting the move anytime soon as Properties here are slow movers but God works in mysterious ways and he has never let me down...

My mother lived down in Daytona in one of those over 55 communities in one of those prefab house/trailer thingies. She loved it and so did I. I would not have a problem living there at all.

my dad had congestive heart failure and died from it last April.

he used to help out in the garden. he liked being outside.

i am aging as well, and getting over-all tired of the garden now as well. there are days i love being outside and days i'd rather not. it si a hobby for me as well, and i'd have a lot of the veggies crammed into a 15' x 15' space.

this year in fact, i will plant MUCH LESS of everything, but will still have flowers if for nothing but the color.

i too will not be living here much longer. i own a 3 family house, and the repairs are multiplied by 3....

i also have grown to really HATE the snow, cold, ice, and HIGH taxes on the property.

but i have no idea as of yet, where i want to move tol..i know for a fact, it'll be a state with little to no property taxes....and NO snow, cold, or ice......or HIGH humidity, like Florida.........!!!!!!!

gotta buddy that lives in Nevada.......maybe there.....???

i had relatives that lived somewheres in FL..they had a pre-fab house trailer as well, they'd go down there before Christmas, come back here in the spring....

We don't have those facilities here though we do have Privately run Communes for the Elderly if you own a Bank...even Nursing Homes cost an Arm and a Leg and the State does as little as possible to say "Thank you" to these People who made this Country what it is today...we have Scandal after Scandal happening here and apart from setting up an Inquiry to "Look into it" {and the Government are bloody good at these Quango Inquiries} nothing ever happens after...

Thankfully Jean and I are comfortable and covered for every eventuality but we're paying through the Nose for that privilege.........Rant over.......:soapbox:

been debating on a detached townhouse or a loft. the bigger the place the more of a slave you are to it
i'd be (somewhat) looking toward a condo myself..no outdoor upkeep. even simple sweeping of the dirt, annoys me now.....as well as the broken booze bottles, fast food bags, and trash, and other drive-by litterings....

yep no i would not miss all of that:D. though you really have to read over the condo docs as some of them can be fruity than a 2.00 bill:mad:. i would only buy a detached condo because if someone brings there visitors when they move in then you all have problems. though some lofts depending on the condo fee to they can include everything heat internets cable t.v. in the fee also it really is a toss up.
years ago i lived in a place back east and the condo fee was 500.00 a month but that included sewer trash outside upkeep plowing painting lawn mowing and even things like a new roof

the thing too is....will they actually do all that stuff ..ON TIME...like the snow removal...

do they work during the snow, to keep up with the amounts, or do they wait till it stops..then too, change of ownership of the complex..does that change your fee's...??

detached, means what exactly..??how can a town house be detached.??? they are builts either side by side, or above/below.....

if i start searching for a new place, and i don;t like what i see/hear..then a small cottage or yes, even a mobile home will do, with the fee's associated with those..

well the one i lived in kept up with everything and they plowed while it kept snowing out. keep in mind that it depends on how well the hoa is run to!!! before buying into one you need to talk to people that live there and see how they like living there also!!! the one i was in hired a property mgnt company and they were awsome at getting things done. would there be a fee increase if there was a change of ownership what do you mean you buying a unit or the owner selling out. there are special assesments for things like keepint the roads up new roofs major expences. my town house was on it's own lot no one below me no one above me it was like a 5 bedroom house with a 2 car garage. chances are if you buy into a mobile home park lot rents can go from 200 - over a 1000 a month and chances are that you will be maintaining your own lot mowing snow plowing

Moving is such a pain in the behind. I hope you have someone to help you.

Praying you get exactly the right place and then exactly the right family falls in love with your current home...someone who will care for it as much as you have.

i mean....say some corporation owns the condo community..then that corporations sells out to another...is there a jump min fee's..??? i know they cannot mess with your mortgage, that's been set. but everything else, can the new corporation mess with the condo unit owners...

don't feel so bad, here, nursing homes take over your house, pension, social security, unless you have all of that in your kids names.....

i had a aunt that lived in an assisted living apartment in Texas....

a mere $5,000 per month.........

Good luck. I have thought of letting my son have my place and finding something smaller just to gain back a weekend day I spend mowing and such.
