Moving again...

hypothetical Questions...What if at some Stage a ruling regarding the cleanliness of you Car parked in your Driveway was to be enforced...Dirty water flowing from your Drive into the Drain leaving a stain on the Path or would you be forced to use a local Car-wash.......Both yourself and your Wife own Cars for your work, what happens the 2nd Car..........The HOA breaks into your Property {whether your at Home or not is Irrelevant} and steals your Livelihood leaving you destitute , were either the Police or the appropriate Authorities present during this removal...

The list of new Rules could go on indefinitely and that's only the beginning...who sits on these Boards...in an earlier reply I asked who gave these People that Power , still hoping for an answer...

I live in a HOA now. The actual tenants are the HOA. There is a vote just like in the Seinfeld episode. They would never make a dirty car clause. It takes a majority rule for a new rule to be put in place. Many of you have the wrong impression. Some of my rules are. I'm in a condo. No unregistered cars on premises. Quiet time from 10pm till 7am. No flags or anything in visible site except for the little flag that has the stars on it that says you have a child in action. No clothes hanging out to dry on your deck or balcony. No AC's hanging out the windows. We all have central air. All blinds and curtains must be showing white. The inside can be color. The outside liner must be white. No commercial vehicles of any kind.

No dogs are allowed. Not even to visit. Cats are OK but can't roam outside. All people have a background check. You can't have a record. You can't have someone new live with you unless they are checked out also.

All our outside maintenance is done for us. Lawns, snow, paint and everything. When it snows the plows come. 24 hours later if your car is still in the same spot, it's towed.

Not all the rules are enforced all the time. I remember one night. It was snowing out and not that cold. All the kids were out riding their bikes in the parking lot. They were sliding all over the place. They brought a radio out and playing ZZ Top and Led Zeppelin!!! Really! Get your own music, that's mine. It was after midnight when we all went in. It was a lot of fun. People made snacks and food. Beer, wine, soda and coffee.

In the past year I've seen three people kicked out. All young. Not sure how they got in. You have to make at least a certain amount of income between a single person or a couple. I'm assuming their parents signed. It was the same story. A group of friends. One gets married and now they have their own place and all the friends who still live with their parents think they have a club house now. Three strikes and your out. Doesn't take long.

would you buy a stick and brick house in an HOA:confused-96:. i always thought that condos were better deals since they take care of the outside and pay for things like water sewer where's in a stick and brick house it's the owners problem

The list of new Rules could go on indefinitely and that's only the beginning...
That's exactly the problem.

who sits on these Boards...in an earlier reply I asked who gave these People that Power , still hoping for an answer...
Initially, it's the developer who sets these up. After enough people move in and the HOA is established, property owners are supposed to vote on board members for specific durations. It depends on who lives around you and what the collective pet peeve is at the moment. Naturally, like any other entity given some kind of power, more and more regulations are added, none are ever removed.

Bayshore's CC&R manual is 150 pages long.

Yes, the last real house I owned was in an HOA. The rules were different. These were big money homes. 25 years ago. Mine was $450,000. They had the house paint color rule, lawn, no trucks, no boats, trailers, RV's, campers and everything else. All vehicles must be registered and moveable or out of site in the garage. There was one guy on the street who was big and tough and thought he could do what he wanted. He owned a trucking company. Lol...I just remembered that. He would bring a truck home all the time. That was the cause of him being kicked out. He just couldn't understand he signed a contract. He had an old hot rod and ended up in jail after doing over 90 on our 30mph street.

150 pages long:stare1:. hell when i lived in both my condos the manual wasn't even 15 pages long and the rules were common sense crap

did they allow Jews, Spanish, Blacks, Asians, or just "white"...??????

Because as even that I am Italian AND white, believe it or not I AM PART JEW as well, on my mom's side...(would i have been allowed..??)

seems like a "lily white, racist" neighborhood to me.....

. You have to make at least a certain amount of income between a single person or a couple.

and what is this regarding income level..??

if a person passes the banks mortgage dept, that's all that counts. (whether the kids lived there or not, someone HAD to buy it, that HAS the finances to do so...)

my income would be of no one else's business...

seems to me, there is just way too much you lose (in privacy) living in an HOA situation..how some people can feel comfortable the HOA knows thier income is beyond me.

what's next..shoe size...??? sleep apnea testing..???...how many times a day a person has sex.>???

do they have cameras in each unit to spy on you..???

no....??? are you 1000% sure..?????

i think i know of a great place someone can live, under all those HOA conditions...

it's called..."The State Hotel"......no privacy, communal showers, and bed mates......and it don;t cost the resident a red cent.....

I like the idea of a clean neighborhood but HOAs like that are too intrusive.

Stay OUTSIDE my house.
exactly..

i have seen some nice cottages in my area, well under $200,000 with some land, nice neighborhoods too......no HOA's.....

i am like my neighbor's 2 dogs...

they don't like being on a leash......

some people, are, well....sheeple......

You don't like it then live some place else. This isn't the public library, we can make any rules we want. The amount of money a household must make is based on your mortgage payment. There are many other places a person can live. You don't have a right to live here unless you meet the requirements. There is no section 8. There is no federal or state funded programs either. As far as I can tell everyone here is in a professional job. There's never any trouble and very quiet.

Oh, and yes! We have security camera's everywhere. I even have my own in my house that records on movement and notifies me on my Iphone so I can watch. Also, our units are inspected once a year. They just did it. Smoke alarms, CO detectors, gas connections and water
