Moving again...

I knew that but I like to give myself a reality shock now and then and I wanted to see just how small a Country we really are...there's small and then there's the bloody ridiculous...Guess which Category we fit into...:biglaugh:

You want to have fun, run a mileage from say, Presque Isle, ME to say...Calexico, CA.

Google maps should help.

I used to do that as a kid. Look at old road atlases and think of places I’d rather be.

I was so weird I would actually write out routes in a notebook I had.

Remember the Film with Peter Sellers "The Lion that roared"...does that remind you of anything.......move over US the little Guys are muscling in...:rolllaugh2:

I have two houses on this place a small one and a large one. Been in the small one a number of years now and I have outgrown it....So come April I planning on making the transfer to the larger house. I probably learn a new language during this move since I set roots down like a ole sitting hen....LOL.

Another Trip to Dublin for all the wrong reasons...received a Phone call this Morning from the Daughter of a Colleague I drove with in the Service informing me of his passing last night...last July he was diagnosed with Pancreas Cancer but never told anyone outside of his Family...the 2 of us were known as "Me and my Shadow" never far from each other...got him a Job with the Coach Company in Dublin when he retired...he often called into visit when passing through Sligo...Never Smoked and only had a Social Drink...kept himself in Trim with plenty of Walking....

I'm stunned...Speechless...he was the Person I was expecting to be attending my Funeral...they say God works in Mysterious ways...well he pulled a Blinder on me this time.....................................:wave:Good By Liam...It was a great pleasure to have been your Friend and Colleague...

My sincere condolences on loss of friend and colleague.

Grab yourself a comfortable Chair...pour yourself a large Coffee or whatever your Poison is and put another Sod {Turf} on the Fire...I have a little Story to tell ye...

Travelled up to Dublin yesterday with the Trailer in Tow to literally kill 2 Birds with one Stone...dropped the Trailer into the Sons House and headed up to the Funeral which was only a few Minutes from the House and met up with the usual Motley Crew of Balding / Toothless / Crotchety oul' Gits masquerading as Retired Prison {Correctional} Officers, 3/4's of whom I failed to recognize the remaining 1/4 I tried not to... After the niceties were through and you make your way into the Church only to be greeted by several more Ex Staff only these Lads / Ladies are in Wheelchairs...People I worked alongside in the prime of their Lives who thought nothing of getting into the middle of a disturbance without any thought given to their own well-being... now they are not even a Shadow of their former Selves...it's pitiful to look at them , it was a frightening experience I can tell you... I vowed there and then that I was never growing old...

The Coffin was carried in by his Family / Friends and laid at the Foot of the Altar ...then Favorite Items were laid alongside it depicting Liams Hobbies and His passion for Cars...during the Sermon His Daughter read a Eulogy which lightened the mood for several Minutes and told of His dedication to raising the Family of 4 young Children after His Wife died of Leukemia back in 1988...it was at that time that His Colleagues donated some of their Annual Leave to Him resulting in over 1 Years paid Leave for Him to be with His Children...His Mother only passed away in January 2017 aged 94...I was introduced to Her about 2 years ago and when I remarked to liam "Is that your younger Sister" His Mother remarked to Liam "I like your Friend" at the same time nudging me in the Ribs saying "You oul' Charmer" a beautiful Lady...

The Service finished after about an Hour when the Coffin was carried out to the Hearse and after condolences were extended to the Family the crowd slowly began to drift their separate ways...I made my way back to Stevens House and began loading the Planks of Timber onto the Trailer which was to be used for the raised Beds then Steven began loading the Metal Framework He had made for the Gates for the Bungalow before strapping them tightly in place... By this time it was bitterly cold and my Back and Chest was beginning to Ache and my Fingertips were beginning to become Numb so back into the House where Karen {Stevens Wife } was getting the Dinner ready and it smelled divine but I was not going to be able to sample it as I wanted to be on the Road before the Evening Traffic rush began ...

I left the House around 5pm and made my way to the Motorway and the further I drove from Dublin the lighter the Traffic became as others turned off towards the Satellite Towns {Suburbs} leaving me with a clear drive Home...the darker it gets the more comfortable I become as I move into my Twilight Zone and my Imagination takes over making me more relaxed while Driving...thinking back the Years working with Liam one regular occurrence by Liam was to Accompany me whenever I would take out the large Vehicles on maintenance runs...he would always be able to convince the Authorities {Governor / Warden } that in case of a breakdown it's best to have support on hand...the Warden knew it was an excuse to get out on the Road for a few Hours but He also appreciated we both pulled our Weight...no sooner would we be pulling out the Main Gates when Liam would say that He needs to collect a part for His Car or He needs to do a bit of Shopping and usually these places are not the easiest to get to but we always managed then we would go for a Coffee and do a spot of Sightseeing before heading back just in time to go Home...thinking of those times I'm sure He looked down as I drove Home from His Funeral with a Trailer load of Timber and Steel.........Sorry Liam , but it's Payback time........:rolllaugh:...........Rest in Peace Mate...

Enjoyed the read here...You know isn't it wonderful to take that trip down memory lane especially when someone lose a friend. I lost many that I knew for many years but my memory has not lost them. Taking those walks back in time to think about them is a healthy thing.

Sounds like you have a good plan....Kiddos should be happy and content...new place and different kids to meet.
I made friends threw purchases too...We managed to stay in touch for years.
In my case....I presently in a three bedroom one bath....moving to a six bedroom three bath...My move will be only across the yard here on the place and I can take my time putting items in place as I go. My reason for my move is more space mostly for myself as I spend a great amount of time on my home front. I am a stick in the mud stubborn as do not like the thought of being in debt...so never bothered looking for another place....I been here a very long time have all that I probably need or ever want. Nice part for me is more space....can travel in and out of here as I please to go visit....For me it the very best of both worlds.

yep i said screw it and dropped the ball:mad:. commieforina is just getting to be to stupid. trying to do business in commieforina is like trying to bash your head into a brick wall. because every year because every year the commies come out with more regulations the cost of doing business rises and i haven't even began to talk about the minimum wage hike wich will throw so many people out of business alot of people are leaving because of the unfriendly business atlasphere high real estate. to live in commieforina you need boatloads of $$$ just to buy a house and if you can't afford to buy a house then you'll be spending alot of $$$ on rent califorina is becomming a renter nation!!! among other things!!! we have remained good friends for years and she is my goto agent!!! we starting talking on the last house i bought she started picking my brain to see what i was thinking when my wife passed on. she was like do you really want to stay in that house with all of those memories that was a hard one to answer or do you want to move on and start over. then she was telling me how her mother passed on from cancer and her daughter lives in the house but she won't go in there because of the memories. she still checks up on me to this day!!! just like when my kids started calling me dad i wanted there next word to be escrow :D

Think you made a wise move getting out of California....and in finding a better place to raise your children...even scientist are warning people to get out because of the earthquake activity.
In my case...yes a lot of sweet memories....every case is different....I chose to pack everything up and store it for my children....when I am gone my two children will have many things that belonged to both there mother and father.
As for my place it been home too a lot of good people...family members, friends, and acquaintances that just wondered in. Guess I could say the youngin's cut there teeth on this place. So I hang on to it and it is where I hang my hat...It all in the thinking....Some six years ago I could hit the bars, joined a dating service, or even jumped up and moved my roots....Instead again I chose to sunk myself into hobbies, music, reading, drone travel ect. What the future hold no one knows...If It meant for me to meet another love then it happen if not it was never meant to be.....It all in the thinking of life.
