Life in Sector 7 G.

I wonder if when mom said you are getting too big for your britches, if anyone has ever said, well, you need to buy me bigger britches!

I've never heard of it or maybe they didn't live to tell about it. :dunno:

What was/is it then?
Plaigerized from Wikipedia:

Canadian bacon (or Canadian-style bacon) is the term commonly used in the United States for a form of back bacon that is cured, smoked and fully cooked, trimmed into cylindrical medallions, and sliced thick. The name was created when this product was first imported from Toronto to New York City. "Canadian" bacon is made only from the lean eye of the loin and is ready to eat. Its flavor is described as more ham-like than other types because of its lean cut.

The term "Canadian bacon" is not used in Canada, where bacon made from pork loin is known as "back bacon" while "bacon" alone refers to the same streaky pork belly bacon as in the United States. Peameal bacon is a variety of back bacon popular in Ontario where the loin is wet cured before being rolled in cornmeal (originally yellow pea meal); it is unsmoked.

So France doesn't call French fries French fries.

It's basically the same thing.

It's weird because when we in Canada get an Egg McMuffin, we say it's cheese egg and ham. Because that is what it is. Not Canadian bacon.
Pea meal bacon is completely different.

George Chuvalo died yesterday on his 89th birthday.

I remember watching a replay of his boxing match against Muhammed Ali. I had no idea who George Chuvalo was. When the match was over, I said what the fuck, that white guy beat Ali! But by score they awarded the win to Ali.

One of the older guys at the Legion where I was watching this re-run fight on T.V said you never seen this fight before?
No.
That's George Chuvalo. He did win but the score was in favor of Ali.

I later learned more about Chuvalo. Chuvalo said after the fight Ali went to the hospital and Chuvalo went out dancing.

I didn't know at the time that George went to the same Italian bakery that I went to, to buy the big eatalian sangwidges.

I never got to meet him.
