Life in Sector 7 G.

My God, I get tired of being stopped by "drivers" asking stupid questions!
Where is this location? Where is this door?
Ask them at the guard shack before you leave there. They have maps. They can draw out you are here * and draw out your route. They probably don't use crayons, but you would get the idea.

The people at the guard shack have people skills, they can help you. Maybe.

My job is to move trailers not hold hands of incompetent drivers.

Tell them "I don't know either. It's my first day. 😊"

If a lead acid battery discharges below "it won't even crank" voltage too many times, it damages the cells.

It's microscopic chemistry class nerd stuff called sulfation.

Methinks if you want to save those mack batteries you're gonna have to remove them from the truck and bring them inside where they won't freeze, and charge them individually with one of those chargers that have the desulfation mode.

Somehow they can eat away the sulfation using high frequency pulsing currents or something, I dunno the details but all you need to know is what it says in the manual for the charger.

Anyway after they're charged fully, individually, disconnect the charger and wait a day or two & check their voltages. It could just be one battery that took a shit & is pulling down the others.
I have a couple of those chargers and they do work but it takes time sometimes months one of them is a trickle charger I put batteries that see little use such as backhoe batteries on it you can but several batteries on it motorcycle batteries would be a good one to use it on also the tractor battery is 9 years old and still going strong
the larger charger I had was good for truck batteries, I had a deal with the local shop I would go thru their old batteries and pick out the ones that didn't have dead cells and pay a bit more than the recyclers paid refurbished them and kept a few on the truck and sold them to truckers at half the price of a new one it was a hobby that unlike most hobbies paid for at least beer money

I got one branded Noco but it was meant for the pickup. It's not cost effective from a lost revenue standpoint to spend that much time trying to resurrect dead commercial batteries when you can slap in a new set and keep moving.

I was going to take the newish ones out of the day cab since I upgraded it to a 4 pack but with the cold and snow and how heavy they are I don't think I even want to do that.

It's like the air springs. In theory you have good parts you can pull off but when you consider the extra effort...meh.

This is where you & I differ here.

I'm more interested in the science of it, while you're looking at it from a everyday practicality standpoint.

I can't argue against your downtime/lost revenue viewpoint.

However isn't this your Mack day cab you're talking about? A truck that's not currently in service? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah your daily money maker has to be kept operational and you can't afford to sit around waiting on desulfation chargers and stuff.

I was thinking it was an inactive truck.

These are the batteries in the sleeper that I am paying my mortgage with. Heretofore. Hencewith. Downton Abbey.

I know you guys don't follow sports but this was cool. An outdoor game played in Florida at a football stadium, luckily it was 30F or zero C in Florida. Tampa bay V. Boston
Great game. Went into overtime. Lots of fights and penalties, three in the penalty box at one time and the very rare goalie fight.
Like I said it went to overtime and came down to a shoot-out.

The stands were packed and I am not sure but pretty sure a Football stadium holds more people than a regular arena.

My building is so STUPID! They put a notice in everyone's door that they should move our cars to accommodate snow plowing. They put the notice out on Sunday night saying they needed to be moved by 11:00 am Monday.
Now let's say you work an afternoon shift and leave at say 13:00 or 14:00 or 15:00... would you get that notice in time if you stayed home Sunday and didn't open your door?

They are just assholes because I know they didn't contract the snow removal people on Sunday. It was probably arranged on Friday during business hours.

Now wouldn't it make more sense to send out the notice on Friday so they would have a higher rate of compliance?

I was lucky I moved my car in time. I know two things in life for sure, don't ever mess with a dump truck driver or a snowplow driver!

I was just remembering getting pulled over by NY State troopers. I was on a road and I knew they were behind me and then came a low bridge that I knew I could not make, So I made a U-turn in a parking lot and then they lit me up. I'm like oh shit!
I put the 4-ways on and shut the truck off and put both hands out the window. (this was late at night).
They came up and were like you know why I pulled you over?
I am like not really.
They said, you almost hit a low bridge
That's why I made the U-turn in the parking lot
Do you know you almost took down that light pole?
Naw, I had a good inch and a half between my trailer and the pole.
Where are you trying to go?
This paper place.
Well, you drove right past it. Follow us we'll take you there.
And they did take me there.

I have always said NY State troopers were the coolest to deal with.

The winter Olympics are happing now in Italy.

In Toronto they have allowed bars to open and serve alcohol at 06:00. Coinciding with the Olympic games so people can watch the games and have a few beers or whatever.

Holy sheep shit! I have done some day drinking in my days and day drinking is rough, but damn, starting to drink at 06:00 is next level:bowdown:

IMO...Day drinking should be an Olympic sport, It's not easy!:couch::cheers:

Like any Olympic sport, you have to practice.

When I was in the navy stationed in Washington state' there was one bar not far from the base that did that every day. Don't ask me how I know.

I was already in a not too good mood as most shunters are when this "mechanic" stops me and asked where is 214?
I said, well, let's see if we can figure this out. This is door 475, this is door 474, this is door 473.
Buddy says, Oh, it's around the building.
Good thinking bud, you figured it out!

Complicated shit! And this guy is probably about to adjust some trailer brakes on a trailer. :coocoo:

This is not a knock on mechanics, I respect what they do! It's a knock on fucking retards! I know we are not supposed to use that word anymore but people like him are why we are still using the word retard!

Hopefully he counts wrench turns better than he counts parking spaces.
