Knowledge, Knowledge, Knowledge

The time stamp only establishes when you got there and when you where released. Nothing to do with on duty time.
I show 15 mins on duty to check in, Back in. Getting you bills, What are we talking here? A minute BFD.

most companies when i was a company driver stated that if there were times on the bills all that time had to be spent on duty....that is the way i have always done it. BFC---bottom feeder companies....anyways...and i have always logged it that way as i was told to log it as i do it...but...i have never gotten a log book violation, and in matter of fact logged it that way and was inspected in pa, by a federal dot officer, and had timestamp on bills, but he looked at all my reciepts for the load and the times on them etc....gave me a clean inspection and let me go...and I don't know what the difference is between a federal dot officer, and a regular dot officer except that it seemed like it did take allot longer than usual for him to go through my logs, and looking over the truck...he did state they were a little more strict? but don't know if that was just a scare tactic or not, was a nice guy was even going to give me stickers but said he had none, (so i cracked a well, i need to give you a citiation then for not having any stickers) lol...but told him it was ok,

Time stamps on bills don't really mean anything. I run from WalMart. They preload the trailers and time stamp the paperwork when the load has been released to leave. I might still be two hours away at the time it's stamped and driving to the yard to pick it up.

Am I going to stop at the exact time the paperwork is stamped so I can get some on-duty time that'll match the time stamp? Of course not.

Time stamp could mean anything: the time the forklift was in the trailer, the time you drove in the gate and then drove out of the gate or your checkin/checkout times...or, as in my case, the time that load was ready to be hauled.

I have always done what RJ describes, whether with Swift as a company driver or lease-op, with that little three-truck operation I ran with for a while or with Prime. Never earned a log violation for it from the company or an inspector. Not even a raised eyebrow.

(Sorry...member of the peanut gallery who couldn't stay out of it...I'll go beat myself soundly with a wet noodle now..)

:(

A lot of places have sign-in sheets. I never sign them. If they actually tell me to, I use a fake name, carrier, load number, etc.

how would you treat the above issue....

As a driver, or as the inspector? As a driver, I know I'd want to keep away from lines 3 and 4 as much as possible. Save my 11/14/70! From my side of the counter, you are supposed to log what you are doing. But like my signature says: "It's not what I know, it's what I can prove". So, how do I prove that that 15 mins you are showing on line 4, wasn't really longer? I can't, unless you TELL me, or I call the shipper/receiver.

....And most likely, the customer will say something like, "I don't fricken know.. What, ya think it's my job to babysit truck drivers?"

DOT dude be like..:dunno:

MN DOT has the number for the guardshack at the big auto ramp in Cottage Grove. And have used it.

So is this what you people do for entertainment around these parts? Fight over silly Dot rules nobody enforces. I guess when this gets old. You can get a couple of flatbedders to fight over the proper procedure to secure a 30,000 pound coil suicide.

By the way I'm Bond!! James Bond:nails:

Minnesota is the only state whose electoral college votes went to Mondale.
:coocoo:
So? Honesty isn't something you or the voting public want from your politicians?
Minnesota also put Jesse Ventura in the governor's office, and in perhaps their biggest f***up of all time, they put that idiot Al Franken in the US Senate.

(not that Illinois hasn't f***ed up even worse, heh..)
I voted Ventura. Don't have any problem with purple knowing that. He was then, and is today....a monkey.

Are you fucking kidding? Flatbed don't know how to argue. It's always one way!

And the only state whose state police decided to make their own laws about fatigued driving.
Seems to me... the rules are as clear as mud so Minnesota made a feeble attempt to clear the waters.

Ummm, last time I checked, laws were to be made by the legislature, not the enforcer. That was the biggest flaw of the whole concept of their checklist, they don't get to just make up rules! And the scariest part was how few realized how freaking wrong what they were doing was, and why!

Mn. Dot, Well you have a T.V in your truck You are a fatigued driver OOS. Well you have a T.V. in your home Wife Kids, plus your commute. I think you are too fatigued to place anyone OOS. LOL

Your bed isn't made neatly, that's a point.
or
Your bed doesn't look like you slept in it, that's a point.

Either way they were gonna get you!
