Is it legal? (to carry a weapon)

Pretty sure that a firearm that is disassembled is just "pieces of a firearm", and not a "firearm" since it couldn't be fired in disassembled status. I wonder if that argument would pass if one were to field strip their weapon while driving and then reassemble when parked and off-duty for the evening? ;) You will rarely get pulled over when you are already parked. LoL

Yup cuz u happen to already be pulled over. I have seen cops come into the rest areas and bang on doors. Not sure if it was due to a prior complaint, but I have seen it.

I'm pretty sure you are wrong. If you are right, you can state a law that will classify a disassembled fireame as not a firearm! Just one, from somewhere.

I looked. I'm probably wrong. Was just a thought.

Illinois has some kind of law about disassembled firearms. I don't know what the law is, because I don't CARE... but I know there is a law that addresses disassembled firearms.

I think New Jersey requires they be disassembled, all the pieces put in different bank vaults, hauled on separate 18 wheelers spaced at least a mile apart on the road in order to transport a firearm.

The point was, that a diassembled firearm, is still a firearm. After having a FFL for some 11 or 13 years, the frame or receiver is considered a firearm, even if it has never been assembled. This is federal law, though.

I don't believe you. I think your logic is flawed.

The disassembled weapons? In the Ukraine government to allow a hunting rifle. You have to put rifle in a bag. It's the law. Oh, yes. You must have a ticket for a hunter, a license for weapons ... and a brother to the police.

Personal background before my thoughts. Vietnam, combat, SS PH. I can remember every round that connected. 2 nominated for US Congress 96 and 98. Lost but endorsed by NRA. Convicted felon (child support) but did 8 months on a 4 year sentence. Case overturned. Judge had ruled National Guard was not military service. I let the judge know I believed him to be less then bright.

It is your right to carry a firearm in your truck. If not on your person then in your sleeper. The sleeper is your home and you have the same rights. Never give any law enforcement the right to enter your truck without a warrant. Never. Hand guns while pretty are not as much use as long guns. A shot gun is the best weapon for personal defense in a close area. I would use a 12 gauge with increasing loads. Number 8 shot, Number 4 shot, and then Buckshot or slug.

The thing is what are you carrying that is worth killing over. In Vietnam, I killed for those around me. Not King and Country but for those on the line with me. I will not kill for a load of tires going to GM. My truck is insured. Also, as an ex-felon use of a firearm in a crime is a 5 year add on. Any crime.

In the 7 years I have been driving, I have never wished I was armed. I know, the first time I do wish it, it will be too late.

Stay alert but do not live life in fear. And remember if you ever find yourself driving around in Missouri with an M-16 in the back of a Dodge power wagon checking missile sites, remove the magazine. The first bump will load a round in the chamber and the second will discharge your weapon. It makes for a long night explaining things.

Only if you are riding around with your bolt locked open and a couple of safety features fail.

I've heard lots of people say a shotgun is best in close quarters but I don't understand it. Mine is about 4 feet long from armpit to the end of the barrel. In close quarters such as in a truck cab, I'd want something shorter that they can't grab the end of the barrel & point away from themselves with one hand while coming in with a knife or a handgun with the other.

I say if you can't hit a target in close quarters with a handgun, you shouldn't even own it.

I think a short shotgun would be best, but the government outlawed them. A bullit from a pistol might penetrate walls and kill an innocent. Personally, I would want a MP5 or a CAR15, the hell with the penetration. Kill them before they have a chance to kill you or come back for round two!

How about a .45 hollow point?
