How about a .45 hollow point?
If it were your loved one on the other side of the wall?
That's why I like .40 cal. It's a big, slow piece of metal that will stop once it hits a target. Lot of PDs went to them because 9mm has a habit of going right on through without causing much damage. Too small a round for the powder behind it.
For home protection, though, I'm with the Texan. 12ga shotgun loaded with 00 Buck, not magnum rounds. Clears a hallway without having to waste time getting a bead on the subject and low potential for collateral injury or loss of life. In situations like a burglar or whatever, most people will be too rattled to take an accurate shot.
I've heard lots of people say a shotgun is best in close quarters but I don't understand it. Mine is about 4 feet long from armpit to the end of the barrel. In close quarters such as in a truck cab, I'd want something shorter that they can't grab the end of the barrel & point away from themselves with one hand while coming in with a knife or a handgun with the other.
I say if you can't hit a target in close quarters with a handgun, you shouldn't even own it.
I'd like to have a taser or something that will knock them on their ass, then I stand over them with a gun til the cops eventually show up.
Accidentally pulling the taser trigger every time he moves.
Easy... buy the 18.5" barrel and a pistol grip, problem solved.
And then you'll either have a pistol, or an illegally modified firearm.
There's a form that must be submitted and approved before you can swap a stock to a pistol grip.
II wonder how effective a machete might be? Crook breaks window, reaches in, loses hand/lower arm?

My advisor is a Class III Dealer that supplies/services Highway Patrol + multiple County & City departments. I think I'll take her word. Especially since it's been backed up by every other shop owner I've ever spoken with.

No matter whether you are legal in the states or not......
A large portion of the places you pick up and deliver freight have rules against weapons........
