Hunting/Fishing photos and stories

@Lilbow we had a great hunt this morning. Three came right at us flew over banked around and set to land in our decoys. Knocked all three down. Same exact thing happened with a pair. A big flock showed up and I told my buddy to kill one. One more shot and we were done. Couple are shot up pretty good because they were all wings set staring at their chest when we fired. That's awesome! I'm doing a solo hunt in the morning in another field I've never hunted. I'm not even sure if the geese are flying around there. There is a small canal running through the field so I'm contemplating setting the spread on both sides of it with some duck floaters in the water. I'm thinking I can shoot ducks and geese. I may have my hopes too high on this hunt but I like setting the bar high! Nice job on picking up a 2 man limit!

Were going to try it again in the morning.

Thought about setting in our duck blind for a combo duck goose water hunt but the field hunting has been so good were going to do that again.

Field hunting is so much easier. No waders and walking in waste deep water involved. If you have to chase a cripple you run after it and no getting a boat to paddle after one. That and it looks like we'd be busting some ice tomorrow.

Do you ever get ducks coming in to your field decoys? Thats pretty common here.

Not really. There is a pond at the farm that is a roost pond. Its full of ducks about every night. We have pass shot a couple going over our decoys. I bought some mallard field decoys and tried to get them to decoy. It worked once. I don't bring them with anymore it's just something else to drag around.

2 drakes and 1 honker. Not bad for having only one flock of geese fly. They caught me off guard. I was out in the decoys contemplating going home since nothing flew. I looked up and they were cupped and coming in hot! I barely made it in to the blind.
Nice work. We went from limits every outing to nothing this morning. We had about a dozen fly over and look but wouldn't commit. Strange when it turns that fast. They will be back.
