I wouldn't either if I was you. Absolutely no reason to jump in early if you don't have to, and you will save plenty money by waiting. That right there is why I have not jumped on this "bandwagon".
No one knows what the final ruling will be or the system requirements are for it. No one.
Even vdo, whom I'm most like to get, doesn't know.
Simple Affordable Electronic Logging Device / ELD - VDO RoadLog
I've been thinking about this.
Best I can tell, none of these companies that are providing E-Logs know what will be in the final ruling once a mandate comes to pass.
Is is possible that wallyworld did this on their own, and just using "FMCSA" as an excuse?
I fully expect several little changes once the mandate comes down, just as I expect the market to be flooded with inexpensive logging options once manufacturers know what is going to be required.
Mike this came down with our meeting about Omnitracs and Navigo updates. They hold them monthly I think. It is Omnitracs being told this to meet whatever the final rule governing elogs looks like.
We found out from VP Safety East in an update message.
Your touch screen might need to be calibrated. I'd have to fiddle with mine to remember how to do that, but I do recall it being easy to do.I just wish Qualcomm would update to modern technology.
The damn things are ridiculously slow & the touch screens are still primitive & inaccurate.
Touch screens are accurate and cheap now. There's one on my keurig machine fer cryin' out loud.
And why the hell should it take ten minutes to change duty status when I stop? I hit "change" then "off" then "ok". Three taps on the screen that should take 2 seconds but each screen takes like 30 seconds to load up.
It's like they're using used computers left over from 1985 to run them.
I've done it. Still not that accurate.
And sometimes I have to slam my fingertip down on it so hard I'm half expecting to break the screen before it even registers a tap. Or sometimes it WILL register the tap, but react so damn slowly that I don't think it detected it & I hit it again, only to launch it into something I don't want & then have to back out of it.

Stop making sense.....You have a bad head unit, the part with the keyboard and touchscreen. It will also slow down the reload process. It just takes a few minutes to replace it when you get back to the yard. I had one that was doing pretty much the same thing, wham bam thank you ma'm, replaced it and problem solved. Reloads in a few minutes or less and touch screen responds immediately.
I just went out to the truck so the night dispatcher can send my load information for tomorrow & had to stare at this stupid screen for 10 minutes.
It's like that every time.
The older ones would boot up in about 1 minute.

so I have to use the touch screen. The letters usually register immediately. It's buttons like "change" (duty status) that're slow.Windows XP on at least one computer. I know this because I installed it myself like 75 years ago.Does van wyk also have Windows 3.1 computers in their offices?![]()

There has been a change that the FMCSA has mandated for them to get approval under the new rule that will be published.
Always before when you would creep around you had certain thresholds that would trigger a switch to the driving line. It would switch at that point in time. However going forward it will back date the time to when our vehicle started moving.
As an example if you were easing around the truck stop on your 30 minute break and just getting to the entrance right as it switched over it would count the minutes you were moving and nullify the 30 minutes. In addition where as before some guys would go until it switched, stop change back to off duty and wait five minutes to move again (we got some strange crap at Titan Instituting elogs) that will no longer work because now when it switches it will include all the time you were moving and be uneditable.
Just a heads up for ya'll we got this week.
