Fast Food.

In terms of early death, Taco Bell seems to be the health leader among them. That Fresco menu thing they do is actually healthy, as far as I know. Ohhh, I'm sure there's hidden this and that and preservatives, and so forth, but we're talking fast food here, not a juice bar.

OH...and worthy of note, a while back I got a meatball marinara subway. I ran across FIVE hard peices in the meatballs. I launched most of it out the window that night, and swore off that type of sub forever. Then, I watched this show and I saw how they made chicken nuggets. I imagine those meatballs are made the same way.

Vile.

I ain't watchin'. I don't wanna' know cuz I get tired of eating nothing but green leafy veggies.

Me too. I tell ya what though, the wife and I found a local butcher shop that we like here recently and the quality of the meat, while a little pricier is TEN TIMES what we get at the grocery store. So for meat, I'm going local butcher. I think this guy is all that organic and range fed whatever stuff too. I dunno. All I know is that his steaks and roasts so far are fantastic.

Local butcher. Hippy fed meat. Give it a whirl.

I've been doing really good at avoiding fast food now that I have a truck with an APU, and am able to have a microwave. I eat those Uncle Bens 90 second rices, and lot's of "steam in the bag" veggies. Oh, I'm pretty sick of it, and the wife called me today and told me she has ten pounds (at least) of real food frozen waiting for me when I get home so I'm looking forward to it!

Red meat really affects me now. Few weeks ago, I went to a TA in Ohio, and decided to get a HUGE double cheeseburger and fries, and just let loose.

I could actually smell it coming through my skin for the entire next day. It was gross. I've had the same issue with garlic for years.

I realize not everyone is affected like this, but understand what huge amounts of grease and fat do to your body!

I hope this thread has helped all you fatties to avoid the garbage we seem to have pushed on us all the time.

I'm doing okay avoiding it. How are you doing?

I am doing great!

I fill the freezer with individually packaged meats (I use a seal-a-meal, and have salmon fillets, boneless pork chops, steaks), frozen veggies, and a few pot pies. I get fresh salad, fruits, 2% milk, etc on the way to the yard when I head out, and stop along the way to get more once a week while I am out.

Each morning I fix some instant oatmeal and add some dried blueberries or other dried fruit, or sometimes have a bowl of cereal, and then have a couple of pieces of fruit as I drive the morning part of my day.

When I stop for lunch I fix a salad and sprinkle some unsalted shaved almonds, crushed pecans, walnuts or sunflower seeds on it. Then I whip up some tuna salad and spread it on some freshly toasted whole wheat bread.

Dinner is one of the pieces of meat grilled on the George Foreman grill, steamed veggies, and some brown rice (I found these really great single serving heat in the microwave rice things).

Once or twice a week I give in and have a cheeseburger from one of the fast food joints, or an Italian BMT from Subway.

I load up with bottled water and keep the fridge loaded so I have a nice cold drink of water anytime I wish.

So I have enough variety to keep me from getting bored, the sodium levels are low enough to keep the blood pressure down, and I am actually loosing weight (slightly!).

I never have soda or those high fructose corn syrup "fruit juice" drinks.

Life is good.

I just got finished with a DQ chilli cheese dog and an xtra thick strawberry malt, was good too.Beats the everyday Hardees and Wendy's.I dont really eat at those 2 places everyday very rarely. But it's nice to see a different fast food in a truckstop.

I live in fast food heaven - a college town. Name a major fast food and I can eat there within 10 minutes. 30,000 kids can't be wrong. Believe it or not, we have more Sushi than anything. Now that's fast. So fast they don't even cook it. lol There is enough pizza cheese to keep you off the pot for a week. We have "The Habit" burger too. Being California we have lots of Tacquerias (Casual sit-down mex food - family place) they are my favorite mex fast food joints. The older I get, the more grease in anything looks like something off the bottom of a dumpster. Even with KFC I take the skin off. However, now chocolate…yummy, yummy, I’ve got love in my tummy.

I would rather eat at anything local, mom and pop, than a chain dump.

I used to buy salads from the fast food places until I read an article about how many of the salads offered have more fat and calories than just a basic cheeseburger. In previous years I was growing lettuce in my garden and had plenty of salads, but this year my lettuce crops just didn't produce(bad seed, too dry, varmits eating it when it was only an inch high) So I have been buying lettuce and that is so costly and you have to eat it right away or it gets funky. My diet has been so screwed up here lately and I am trying to get back to a healthy regimen. So fast food is out!

I would'nt be surprised one bit.I bought a salad at Petro this morning and they have everything on it but the lettuce. You can barely see it.Not complaining,it does look good.Im going to eat it while im sitting here at the receiver.

Today is thread resurrection day.

Anyone had the Sweet Chili sauce they have at McDonalds now? MAN that stuff is good on a quarter pounder. And chicken mcnuggets too I guess.

I'm gettin' freakin huge...

McDonalds has something they're calling a "Strawberry Cream Pie".

I dunno...it's pretty good. I could almost feel my life shortening as I digested it...

Yes, it is. I only know of 2 locations I can get to one. Barstow, CA and that TA on I30 near Dallas. Probably a good thing. I'd eat a lot more In n Out burgers if they were more available to me.

i guess nobody has tried 5 guys burgers.nothing compares, they cut the fries on site and even tell you what farm the tatters came from.they cook em in peanut oil.ya can also buy peanuts there
