EC's Going For It

@Electric Chicken We are heading back to Florida Monday morning I think I am going to go over and down 522,37,81,66.17 to 95 this year instead of going down thru West Virginia. Is there anything other than traffic going on. I haven’t been down that way since I retired?
Potholes and ruts.

You haven't been retired long enough for anything to suck any more or any less.

Maybe you'll notice some new patches and paint.

Construction backups?
Not really. It's just unpredictable accidents now. They were doing work up my way on 81 but at night and it's pretty much all done and wouldn't affect you regardless.

81 at the 300mm in VA is still a project but even that isn't bad. You're hitting 66 before the actual work zone. You'd maybe just be managing the lead up to the slow down since it's a left exit. It can be awkward.

The 81 median project that closed a lane in WV around MM16 is done so it's wide open again.

Timing for rush hour is always a thing but that's normal.

I haven't been on 522 and 37 in a few weeks but I don't remember anything then.

I don't know what's going on on 95 below Richmond but there's a project north of it but it was just a lane shift last time I was through.

Yesterday's run to and from Fredericksburg was actually pretty clean.

Thanks I’ll keep an eye out for you. But you won’t be as easy to pick out as you were in your Green Day cab.

Just got home, and set up autopay with GM Financial for the car. It's $458 and change so I made it $500 even with the extra to go directly on the principle. They're not gonna get much out of me at 1.9% on only 16k but this gives 'em even less. I also set it to start a month early and 6 days before it's due. So my first payment will come out November 1st instead of December 7th.

As far as work goes it ran a little long but that's okay. Instead of my day being bunk, it ended up getting flipped into extra bonus.

Starting out, my chassis had a missing pin retainer and neither of the front pins would slide in to position to hold the box on. So I called the office and they said they'd get the crew to fix it this morning before they left for the day. I didn't think it would actually happen but I said thanks and moved onto my short delivery. It went fine for a place I'd never been before. I then called dispatch and got my loads rearranged so I could use the empty from there for the pickup across the highway instead of the original deal of using the empty from the first delivery that couldn't happen.

She was more than happy to do that, since it at least meant 2 out of three would be well within their windows and the other one had plenty of time left and is otherwise easily reschedulable.

When I got back to the rail with my pickup, the crew did indeed fix the pins so I could slide through the road shop and get the retainer replaced. And it took almost no time at all.

On my way down with that one, I asked if there are any pickups at that place (remember I was originally coming out of there empty) and she got back to me and said as a matter of fact there is a load ready.

So that chassis being messed up actually resulted in me earning more money with the same effort.

I wonder how many kids' day that truck driver made along his route.

The only thing I know about the show is Ringo Starr was on that show as a conductor or something.
I vaguely remember that. I had to look it up. He was the first narrator and played the conductor on the live action shining time station segment.

Today was shorter but still decent. I was set to deliver then come back empty then bobtail to repo a nearby empty.

I did the repo first so that by the time I got down to the delivery dispatch would be in the office to see if there was a load to put on me to bring back from the same customer.

If I did the delivery first I'd have been down there way too early to get a load back.

Just as I got there she texted me saying she was changing my empty to loaded.
