EC's Going For It

Big mow today. Got the side piece and everything. Doing that feels satisfying like trimming hair away from the ears. šŸ˜„

Only things I didn't move were the trailer and the wreck. I thought maybe I'd move the wreck but it's batteries were dead and so was my booster. So I'll try that later. I can't have it out there idling long because there's no coolant in it. I'll air up the transmission tank manually to help it along. It'll be a bit of a process.

If I can reposition the radiator, preferably on new brackets, to get the upper hose on, I can probably refill it with coolant and if so I can move it around all I want. If it doesn't need a new radiator. And if it doesn't need that I can just go ahead and get on with replacing the other bits.

What are your plans for it?

@Mike's new truck chasing MPG thread has me wondering whether I should get the 1 inch tread tires I usually get, or try some fleet hard rubber eco tires with less initial tread and greater risk of jacknife.

I'm going to have to make the decision within the next month.

I am not a truck owner, but I do observe some things...
WM changes their fleet tires with deep tread in the fall for the winter and low rolling resistance tires in the spring for summer.
I know your fleet is not a big as WM is YET. But if you can afford both types of tires I would follow what they do.

@Rigjockey That must be something new they implemented because a few years ago the only complaint I had was tires that were legal (but not enough tread in my mind) to run in Western Pa. Maybe it’s just a Canada thing?

My neighbor randomly texted me yesterday "what are you doing with the green Mack?"

"I dunno, why? I thought about giving it up but not sure."

"My friend is interested. How much do you want for it?"

Maybe it'll find a home as-is and someone can take advantage of all the money I sunk into it.

Ironically, he wants it to haul grain and it was a grain truck that I hit. šŸ™‚

Does the chassis really need to be lifted that high to move it?
The rule at CP where I worked was never lift anything over someone's head/ Also do not go under anything that is in the air.
I've seen that forklift load chassis onto flatbed trailers off in the gravel lot but this was my first encounter with it rolling the main drag with one sky high.

Today was a bust. My loaded container didn't make it so I moved on to the bare chassis I was supposed to move to Harrisburg. I patrolled the rail yard twice looking at every single bare chassis trying to find the single specific one I was supposed to take.

No luck. Then I called the rail office and asked them to look it up and they said oh it was taken out yesterday afternoon.

So basically my company wasted my time or someone took something they weren't supposed to take.

I went home figuring well this is a nothing burger. An hour after I shut down they offer me another load. I told them nah too late for that. I'm working on my house.

It wasn't a total waste, however. I finally figured out a squeak I was having a low speed bobtail over bumps. It was my driver side mudflap bracket when it flops with the spring. I pulled it up as far as it would go and fingered some grease in there and it made it quiet again.
