Do you find the quality of truck drivers on the road to be decreasing?

when you've done this crap as long as i have, you too will not wish to climb on any steer tire. as far as bugs on the windshield, this is what those long poles are for with sponges on the end, and of course, a garden hose.

as far as replacing wiper blades, this is what the shop is for.

i touch no more than i have to or need to.
No excuses. Quit being a lazy steering wheel holder.

And bugs don't wash off with the long handle things. You gotta get up on the tire & grab the handle just below the head and put some ass into it.

Geez,.... I bet your windshield is as bad as @Sinister's.

New breed drivers just wouldn't have made it as little as five years ago. When did truckers become useless wusses?

Use soap numnuts, and you have no business on a steer tire. It is not a ladder, you have no fall protection, and we have people for that.

You're a steering wheel holder too? o_O

No, it's not a ladder. It's a platform for standing on while changing wiper blades and topping off coolant.

If ya' ask @Blood, the visor is a platform to stand on too. :toothpick:

Stop being all WalMart on us, steer tires have made for excellent ladders for decades. Just use quality steer tires and there is no chance of falling off!

They come off easy if you have your own spray bottle of water/alcohol/ammonia.

Rookies.......

A small amount of dish soap on the squeegee. No home remedy potions,...

But the first time you have a bottle of dish soap leak all over the place in the side box you'll go back to hopping up on the tire & using elbow grease. :toothpick:

You're good at posting pics, how about posting a photo of this platform?

At truckersforum.net Transportation, we certify that steer tires make excellent platforms, and lugnuts are the perfect step up to said platform ;)
Only ppl that should climb on trks should be mechanics and I'll just bet most trucking companies have a policy against drivers doing that too.

That is not a platform. Any company will tell you that.
Wrong. :harumph:

What else are you supposed to stand on when changing wiper blades? The greasy frame rail? The flimsy fiberglass bumper edge? o_O

Or do they expect to to wear a full body harness & hang from one of the OSHA certified overhead hoists they have at every fuel island? :toothpick:

When did this industry become so enpansified we're afraid to climb up on a steer tire?
