Them 3.8 liters with all six cylinders hammering hard I have had it up over 100. But yeah it ain’t fast by any means.
An 18 yr old had a supercharged 3.8 in an early 2000's Regal.

Came down my road at well over 100.

Hit a slight little rise over the bridge over the creek and got airborne.

Remember this is a front wheel drive, so the longer half shaft twists a little under high torque, creating that left-right awkwardness.

He landed sideways, slid sideways into a telephone pole, snapping it in 3 pieces, then rolled 4 or 5 times into a different creek, landed right side up. Killed instantly.

Cops estimated he was doing around 140.

They made a Pontiac grand am that had a supercharged 3.8 in it. Worked with a guy that had one. Mine isn’t. Lol I hit 100 and then I remember my tires aren’t speed rated and slow my ass back down.

was in the army with a guy that had a turbocharged and nitrous fogged Lancer Evo. He was street racing just outside of Hinesville Ga. He was doingan estimated 120-135 when the left steer failed. parts of the steel belts wrapped around the tie rod end and locked the wheel to the left pulling him into a large cypress tree. Splitthe car in half. He died in ICU 2 hours later. His passenger who was wearing a seat belt survived with a broken hip and collar bone.

anyway accident investigators said the wreck happened because the tires weren’t speed rated for 120 andthe belts failed.

When I was 18 or 19 I was doing about 110 on a motorcycle, in the right lane of a 4 lane, 45 zone, approaching a green light and about to pass a car that was in the left lane.

At the last second the car moved into my lane.

I aimed for the shoulder which was about a foot wide.

My clutch lever stuck an inch past the end of the handlebar. The clutch lever hit the car but the handlebar didn't.

So I literally hit a car at 110 mph with a 65 mph speed difference and all it did was break my clutch lever in half and scrape up a knuckle on my pinky finger.

And of course, at that age, I didn't care. I was just pissed I had to operate the clutch with two fingers.

I have done a lot of stupid shit on motorcycles. So I feel ya on that.

I woke up in hospitals looking at pretty nurses 5 times from 15-20 years of age because of idiot drivers aiming for me on my bikes. I got in 2 headon's, 2 rear ends and one cut across my path for a broadside. I gave up and wrapped myself in late 60's Cadillac steel.

Yeah I went almost 20 years without a motorcycle, then my dad gave me his old broken down Goldwing.

People in cars drove like retards back then, but today everyone has cell phones to distract them.

Naturally I prefer to stick to the farm roads.

Good thing the quips are fast, because the Monte sure ain't!

My first car was a 77 Monte Carlo. 305 in it. Not a 350. A hole had rusted through one of the rear wheel wells. I had a friend in the front seat and my second girlfriend in the back. I went through a huge puddle and her ass got wet. She was not happy.

The doors were all rusted. When you slammed them closed they made a KACHUGGA sound.

Someone told me if you flip the lid of he air breather you got more horsepower, so I did.

Apparently more horsepower practical jokes have been around a while.

Made it sound cooler though. And oddly enough it didn't have that dreadful landau top so it looked pretty cool, and was a nice maroon color.

My brother had a booger green 78 with a landau roof. It was actually pretty good looking ad he bought it from an old lady who took care of it.
We dropped a rebuilt 350 in it, then he wrecked it.

My Monte Carlo story :

I bought a new Cougar in 84, 302 with that screwy variable venturi carb. Buddy decided he needed a new car to keep up, and bought an SS Monte Carlo. 4 bbl carb, stall convertor, short gears, posi. On paper it should have smoked that Cougar. Pissed him off to no end that once we got rolling, I could just walk away from him, a good 4-5 lengths in the quarter. (Back then we raced on old 66, which was I-40 frontage road, and had a measured 1320' painted)

I still smile thinking about how mad he'd get. 😂
