I can't wait. *Squee!*
I don’t entirely disagree. Again it was my choice to do things my way knowing where I was going and what would happen. Again. I chose to work here.My thing about the tarps is they're fine right there and there's absolutely no reason to handle them again until the load comes off. THEN you could put them away properly.
This is extra work forreasons.
I hear you. Still gonna rib you though.I don’t entirely disagree. Again it was my choice to do things my way knowing where I was going and what would happen. Again. I chose to work here.

This. ^^^^I hear you. Still gonna rib you though.![]()
Your "thing??"My thing about the tarps...

Thing, issue, perturbance, whatever you wanna call it.Your "thing??"
OK Mr Canner...
They probably already have my replacement hired.
I used to work on a lot of companies ****. And it was ****.
I appreciate rules and standards. I did before I went to work at TMC. And no shop I ever worked in had them. They said they did. But they never enforced ****.
Don’t pity me. You don’t like what you do then do something else. You’ll probably have a happier existence if you find something you enjoy.
I don’t care about money. If I did I would still be at Freightliner. But I do have financial obligations to meet and driving for 46cpm somewhere (regular flat mind you) that has decent equipment that’s only gonna run me 2200 miles a week ain’t gonna get it done.
.46 is maverick our biggest competitor.
I am trying to explain, at great length and with much pain, because you just don’t get it. I had this mentality long before TMC. I like things being well kept, super clean, and on a schedule. Almost to the point I’m OCD about it. There are times when I was in the shop I would have to stop and put all my tools away and clean the work area before continuing because for me it was too much chaos. Other guys could have their whole tool box on the floor picking through stuff and be fine.
Again I’ll say you do you man, and I’ll do me.
Only two instances I have been told of by senior management where someone was let go for doing something to the grass. But walking on the grass??
Really?
That not in the same ballpark.
Policy, in the cabinet, side box, or belly pan. Were your tarps secure? And how hard is it to tug on that strap?

I’m stuck with the auto truck but if they lose a few guys off special ed I think I will make the jump to get back to a 13 speed.I got policies too. Tarps are now against policy. Cross Canada trucking is against policy. Automatic trucks.....against policy. Company controlled remote cameras of any sort are against policy. (My last company has them far and wide now so we pulled the pin on that grenade just in time)
I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of right now.
Walmart would have the policy about walking on the grass if they had any. You are right about policies being lawsuit prevention. Hell, 99% of the management training at that place was lawsuit prevention.I get what you're saying about policy. In all honesty I was worried about that when I came here because I've never been a person who likes policy. But what I learned was that they can be in place to protect the driver as well as the company. Also what I learned is that most of the policies we have in place here are a result of a lawsuit, or to prevent a lawsuit.
All the other places I've ever worked had little or no policy. I found this worked in the bosses favor more often than mine.
I want a day off, nope too bad, boss says you have to go. When we were doing fundraisers for our trip to Ireland I'd asked for Sundays off so I could help. I was told over and over again it was not doable. I can't count the number of times I pulled into the yard and everyone elses truck was parked, and somehow i was the only one available to work.
Here the process is a little frustrating, but fair. It also favors those with seniority, but that at least makes sense to me.

That's pretty much anywhere. Any time I get too close to an office some office puke will come up with some half baked idea almost guaranteed to make the day more " interesting"I’ve found that if I simply do my job, stay out of the office , and remain low maintenance none of it is an issue.
I don’t even know half the abbreviations I’m supposed to.
If I was a CEO, I’d be too busy delegating work to others and playing golf to worry about that. Especially when I’m semi-retired.If I was CEO of a big company I'd make a completely pointless and stupid rule like you can't say some randomly chosen word on a Tuesday while you are at a terminal.
Then I'd fire any manager who actually tries to enforce it.
