Anyone here know another language?

Anyone here learned a second language?

If so, how did you learn?

By lessons?
By watching T.V.
By watching T.V. with subtitles

What do you think is the best way to learn a new language?

I know how to insult one's mother in Spanish, German and Russian. Does that count for anything? 😁

I took Spanish most in high school but one year each of German and Russian. The latter two were more like kindergarten for 17 year olds so I learned basically nothing.

Never really used any of it much after that so it's pretty much all dead in me.

Immersion is probably the best. It’s how we learn to speak our native language.

I picked up more Spanish from spending several days in Mexico than I have from anywhere else.

So yeah, TV with and without subtitles is a great option. Add in radio once you are picking up on things from TV.

Or play Call Of Duty, lol

I should probably know more of the French language than I do. (School taught it, used to truck lots to Quebec, and my ex grew up in a French/English town).

I learned more of the language from my ex than I did in school. - Not saying this is the best way to learn; as I didn’t learn how to spell any of it. (Just verbal lessons).
