Motor Carrier Apparently my rates are too high

With rates ‘nowhere near sustainable’ for independent truckers, debate stirs over ‘re-regulating’

I found this pretty interesting. I would have been totally against this in the past. In today’s current environment I find it intriguing. It ultimately boils down to drivers who are willing to haul these loads, I’m halfway leaning on supporting regulations or some kind of restrictions on new authority.
I'd like to see the law changed to restrict it to a 15-day pay, unless "agreed upon up to 30 days". That part needs to be blocked.

And to have it mandatory disclosure of rates charged to all parties involved.

Otherwise, just enforce the crap that's there and hopefully we can get rid of the double brokering like landstar is so known form

I would agree with it. de-regulation was never good for truckers or trucking companies.
People don't mind paying for goods but no one wants to pay for shipping/transportation.

It was always about driving rate low as possible. That’s what it’s done and it’s taken the pride and professionalism out. It’s led to just about every problem in the industry today. From safety to sweatpants

I wouldn’t mind published rates for certain commodities.

So... you really want the gubbermint to tell you how to run your business?

Must be a fan of hours of service, ELD, CSA, sleep apnea testing...

How's that working for you?

Now you want them to tell you how your business is going to work???

Put in a couple cheap bids with Uber this evening. Two places I didn’t want to go, but figured they would pay better than other locations.

At least, I thought they were cheap.

Got a notification that my bids were too high.

If you have to go lower than that you would be better off leased on to a mega.

Where did you gather any of that? Try again dipshit

Allowing the government to re-regulate routes is exactly the same thing. They could **** up a wet dream, as they have everything else they touch.
I guess you didn’t read the article? Maybe you should before you start making ignorant statements about what I’m for and what I’m against.

Also I specifically stated that in the past I was against these kinds of things, but am intrigued by the idea. Furthermore I stated in the end it’s the drivers fault.

Still bidding my time at home.

Opened up the APU today from the century. It's junk. Worth core only. Everything external is locked up, over $3000 worth of parts to buy. And still have to find a frame. I can identify 3-4 pieces right now of it that might be salvageable. Otherwise, it's time to start hacking it apart and put it back together with new steel.

I don't have the shop tools to do all that work. Welder etc. Alternator, compressor and such were all new when I put it on lease three years ago. Even the wiring is corroding apart.

Was it junk when it was on the Century? Sounds like you've been storing it at the bottom of a lake.

A couple years ago someone on here called it the "Walmarting of the trucking industry" and one of the Walmart drivers on here acted all pissy. :D

It was a good analogy though. Race to the bottom. Cheap cheap cheap, lowest prices being the #1 objective, **** quality.

When the hell did you decide to start making sense? I though you commies loved big government and wanted them to micromanage every little detail.

What the hell? Has the tin unicorn been hacked or something? This makes sense. It can't possibly be him.

The aliens brought me back, and I ghosted their evil clone.

I have no intention of allowing the gubbermint any further control of my business life, just because someone else can't figure out how to make a buck with a truck.

At the moment, I could clearly make more revenue leased to a carrier with lots of contract freight.

Long term, though, that would be a mistake because it won’t be long until I am back to doing better on my own.
What kind of "won't be long" are you talking about?

Since you still seem to not have read the article. It’s not about regulating carriers. The article is about regulating brokers and capping the percentage they can take. There is also a group advertising for a minimum floor rate during emergencies.
