X15 Cummins blow by

I thought I’d start a new thread since it might help someone else someday.

@pushbroom we talked about that blow by on my X15. I got oil samples back and they’re spotless and it’s not using oil so I think we’re ok. You had mentioned in O ring update and said it wasn’t available, do you by any chance have a part number for that? Then do you know the new engines come with that update and what the serial number break would be?

It started blowing oil out of the blow by tube kinda suddenly. It’s not real bad, you know a little oil looks like a lot when it’s on the frame and stuff.

I wonder if the colder weather/longer idle at less than operating temperature could cause more blowby and condensation gathering in the blowby tube. Maybe it will decrease as temperatures warm back up?

Maybe but I’m not sure. It sets inside a heated building every night and it’s up to temperature fairly quickly. I wouldn’t think you’d have much condensation at temp

Since the oil sample is clean, could it be the air compressor? That wouldn’t spike soot levels but could pressurize the crank case.

That was discussed, not sure. Right now we’re just going to watch it but I’d like to replace those O rings just to be on the safe side

I had a part number that was the apparently updated rings however the part number doesn't exist anywhere yet. Since it isn't available the new trucks do not have the update either. Still playing the waiting game, I'm assuming part shortages don't help either.
Pop the turbo intake off if you are concerned and finger sweep the turbo inlet/ inspect the fins. If its bad enough to cause blowby its bad enough to be seen on a turbo.

Does the X15 have a CCV collector like the Volvo and the ISB motors?

And would it need servicing?
