What every Truck Driver needs to read

The OPs example is why most people are against drug testing but there is a cutoff for the drugs they do happen to test for. Second hand exposure to marijuana smoke would never fail you. For EMIT urinalysis, the standard cutoff is 50ng. If it's below that the test stops. If it's above that, a second test (GCMS urinalysis) is issued and the number must be above 15ng to confirm a positive. As you can see a certain amount of leeway is already in place for certain circumstances.

For hair follicle testing this number is completely NOT even close to what the OP mentions above as it's measured on a completely different scale. He talks about urine testing numbers not hair follicle testing numbers. I wonder if he actually knows what test he took?

DOT Rule 49 CFR Part 40 Section 40.87
The ABCs of Marijuana and Drug Testing - NORML.org - Working to Reform Marijuana Laws
Drug Testing in the Workplace - Drug Cutoff Levels

No!
Just No!
Drug testing should be done to test for fitness for duty:thumbsup:

If a driver wants to smoke a joint on Friday when they get home, It is no ones damned bidness!

If drug testing for usage is so damned important, Why is okay do snort lines on the weekend and not get popped on tuesday, but smoking weed six weeks before will get you popped?

It makes no sense!
The whole drug testing system is way out of wack
Absolutely!

Marijauna only pops the way it does because it is fat soluable rather than water soluable, like other recreational substances. At least in urine testing. There is no way, right now, to tell when the weed was used because it takes so long for the metabolites to go away. It's nothing personal against weed, per se. It's simply impossible to test for more recent usage, since it tames so long for your body to get rid of it.

Now that Knight has Swift, I suppose they'll try to move toward hair testing. As of end of May, when I left, they were not clipping hair.

However, back to RJ's post above, once they do, all substances will be treated the same. If you pop positive for opiate use from two months ago, it will be a positive drug test. As long as these drugs are illegal to use recreationally, and until they can definitively test for three days ago vs. last week or last month, companies are allowed to eliminate criminals from their payrolls. Whether we agree or we don't, certain mind-altering substances are not legal, regardless of what some States have individually decided.

Personally, I don't want dopers and drunks out here on the highways. But that's my opinion.

All the tests do is prove someone did drugs in the PAST. It's discrimination, not safety. Opiates are widely prescribed legally. One could get hurt, get prescribed Percocet and climb behind the wheel. One could have a cold, take some NyQuil and go for a drive. Sudafed. Benadryl etc etc. Illegal has nothing to do it except give people some sort of "moral" high ground to stand on while using the regs as an excuse for prejudice against "criminals". What someone does on their own time is their business. There are plenty of ways to go after inebriated drivers at the moment it matters like when they're behind the wheel but they're routinely ignored in favor of the bigger business of drug testing. Surely, anyone can see this isn't about safety at all.

You don't have to be pretty for this to happen. My drink was likely mixed up with someone that was pretty though but it goes beyond that . A whole Boyscout meet ,including multiple parents , was drugged with cookies made with THC infused butter . A whole church congregation was also drugged by one man with cookies. A police chief was drugged in his own home when he ate a cupcake. A judge was drugged at a restaurant. The list goes on and on .
The one COMMONALITY amongst all of us is we thought we had food poisoning. The real problem is because of how THC products work someone could start feeling Ill and go to sleep thinking they can sleep it off and actually sleep through the High without knowing anything other than food poisoning ever occurred. This is why HOW OFTEN this actually happens is unclear . Hell there is even a story about a nice who failed a drug test because she had sex with her boyfriend earlier in the day ,prior to taking her drug test , and his cocaine showed up in her system . ( Fortunately for her a blood test showed that she came in contact with cocaine through sex ) So anyone who tells you this CAN'T happen is either blind or has an agenda that this information bumps heads with .

This is fake news. Only way that could happen is if he put the cocaine on his wang just before the nookie began, and THEN the only way to tell how she ingested the cocaine. Would be for him to admit he put it on his wang in court.

Most of those other internet stories your talking about are also fake news. Urban myth if you will. If there were really cases like your saying where large groups of people were drugged, it would be national news.

I remember the one about the church and cookies.
That was national news.
There have also been a handful of stories about cops being intentionally dosed for fun ?or revenge.

Dunno about the sex thing though...
could her defense be claim she misunderstood what he meant by 'blow'?
:biggrin-2:

I apologize...
I'm going to the corner now.

The one with the wife actually sounds like an actual incident that happened to a female major while I was stationed at ft Stewart. She popped hot for coke. Protested results and took it to court Martial. Only way she stayed in the army and kept her rank was because her husband admitted in court to having put cocaine into his urethra and on the glanis to give him more stamina. Also admitted to applying it within 10 min of the act commencing.

I can see potential for problems in certain circumstances.
I had an outpatient procedure done recently and the doctor prescribed an opiate.
I almost didn't fill the script because like I told him, I never use narcotics for any reason.

He was so persistent about the potential for pain that I filled the script.
5 mg of I don't even remember what & 375 mg of acet, acedi... tylenol.
:biggrin-2:
I took 2 that night and didn't take anymore.

I can totally see myself a few months later at a random claiming that "I never take anything like that."
No big deal on a urine test.
Maybe really bad on a folicle test.

Sounds like a Major **** up...
Hey, that was funny...
where's everybody going?

The prescription will not show up on any test likely . The Opiates are water based and clear out in under 48 hours unless you continually use them . As far as for follicle testing , the standard is an inch and a half of growth. So it would cover generally 90 days .
But the follicle test is what proves I don't use drugs . I have the advantage of having long hair with over a year of growth. They can test the whole strand and it will show one single solitary spike . That's the spike from the night that caused all this headache .
Also people seem to not understand the difference between THC and actual marijuana. Sure you smoke marijuana and the THC then gives a near instant high but THC products don't do that . It builds up slowly like getting drunk . That's why it's actually becoming part of the cocktail in date rape drugs . You can give someone a spiked drink at the beginning then you just make them drinks with enough alcohol to taste and they just think their getting drunk . The only real side effect is similar to food poisoning, that's why so many people just sleep through the High and never even know they where drugged . That's the biggest problem with so many states legalizing it . I mean it's like a gun ... Most people don't have nefarious plans but even 1percent can cause a great deal of damage when they do have nefarious plans .
