Volvo VNL670 vs. Kenworth T2000

Honestly go for whatever you like. If you fuel economy is what your after; try the T2000 or the 387 Peterbilt. Both are good and practically the same trucks that earn good fuel economy. However, My choice would be a 670 Volvo with a Cummins ISX 475 or 485 with a 13spd. You can always add a airslide 5th wheel if you need one. Now, I have seen a lot of 387's mated with 10spd's offered by Pete dealers with the Tri-pac apu.

I am also leased to Dart out of their Lancaster, Tx office, been with them 2 years now. I have an 03 T2000 with a 475hp C-15 cat, getting 6.6 mpg at 70 mph. But they have a problem with wind noise around the doors with a crosswind...on here looking for a solution to the problem.

Sounds like you get pretty good fuel economy.

The only solution for you with that truck is to buy a different one. Those trucks have huge doors, and the way the air flows around the cab off of that gigantic windshield it sucks the top of the plastic doors out and then the wind howls through them.

And every T2000 I have seen with any miles on it is missing pieces of the fairings or they are duct taped and bungee corded in place. The low weight plastic design of those rigs doesn't seem to hold up well in the world of trucking.

The new T700 is almost a clone of that truck and drivers I have talked to who drive them say that they have the same problems with crosswinds and the doors,. It makes me wonder why PACCAR didn't correct that problem when they designed the T700 to replace the T2000.

I was offered a brand new one recently and after checking it out closely I turned it down. The things I mention here, and the fact that there is absolutely no way to attach mirrors for pulling oversize loads caused me to turn it down.

Oh, and the T700 doesn't have a place for a microwave either. What the hell is up with that? Then there is the "refrigerator". Just enough room for a can of pop or two, and not much else. The "freezer" would barely hold one pot pie.

:headscratch:

I hear the Volvos have electrical problems. Is that true? I bet the ride is nice like y'all say...

I've driven most of the major trucks, I now own a Volvo VNL 670, and I think it is the best ride I've ever had ('cept my wife, of course):leer::banana::leer:

That said, EVERY truck has electrical problems. Mine has not had any YET, thank God. But look at how many Volvo trucks are on the road these days. Anyway, I came from a company that now uses exclusively International. We had lots of electrical issues with those as well.

We had a brand new Volvo ( company truck) that broke down 5 times, it ended in Texas. Never again will I drive one.. Electrical .. We are looking to buy, your opinions are needed here, again.. Looking to lease onto Landstar... Opinions please.. We drive team, tired of being a company puppet.. Lets hear gang..
