Trucks driving in both lanes

...and that is the crux of the matter. Who decides what is reasonable? i don't know but I'm pretty sure its not you.
I do have an idea of what is a reasonable speed as does most of the motoring public But there are always morons that chose to put themselves and others on the highway in harms way . You keep on defending the actions of people who should not have the priviledge of driving . Your insurance rates will still rise due to incompetance of operating a motor vehicle . If you believe in that then you probably believe in wealth redistribution as well .lol

I do.

No, this is something you brought on yourself by being impatient and not courteous or understanding of the other person. Unless the law otherwise defines it, 5mph under the limit is not going to get you a ticket for impeading.

It should. In ideal weather conditions, someone going 50 in a 55 needs to have their head examined to determine WHY they're going so slow. If they just started their engine and it's still cold, it's excusable. But if they're just plain dumb as a brick or they're "scared" or there's something wrong with their vehicle like a wheel is about to fall off, they need to get off the road.

And if it means $5,000.00 in an O/O pocket at the end of the year? I don't drive slowly to irritate other drivers. Times are tight, every little bit helps.

Says who? Unless the law specifically says so, they are not impeding and have no obligation to get out of your way. Again, this is your problem, not theirs.

The law is wrong. It needs to be updated to account for all the idiots out there going too slow. We have too many people and not enough roads to accommodate everyone. People who choose to hold everybody else up are nothing but selfish pricks who don't deserve the privilege of sharing the highways with everyone else. There's such a thing as common courtesy. Hogging the road all to yourself and not letting anybody pass you, holding everybody else back at the ridiculously slow speed you want to go is impeding traffic. I've heard of people actually getting tickets for this, and I wish it would happen more often.

This is coming from a guy who just yesterday was joking about spending $30,000 a year on Starbucks coffee. LOL.

My Grandmother was issued a ticket for going to slow, The charge ? Impeding the flow of traffic . She didn't even know that was possible to get a ticket for going too slow . Well it is and many more tickets should be issued for doing this !

Why the need for speed? I"m able to get everywhere I need to be on time. And I put more money in my pocket doing it!

You're in a different facet of the industry. I've heard most flatbed loads don't have appointments, or they're not very strict. The machines on your trailer don't have an expiration date. My company's schedules are (supposedly) based on a 50 mph average but in real life that never happens unless you average at least 60. To average 60, unless the route is all interstate, you have to go 65 as much as possible. They don't plan for the loads being loaded late (happens about half the time) or time spent getting fuel, lunch, CAT scales, bad weather, orange barrel zones, etc. For me it's pretty much just keep the hammer down and the left door closed or you'll be late.

The law is never wrong in a court. If you disagree with the law then you, as an american, have the power to change it (assuming you care enough). Yes, people do get tickets for impeding, but not 50 in a 55 zone. That could just be speedometer error. Hey some people even get tickets for over length on a NN route. What does that tell you?

PS: there is no such thing as common sense or common courtesy. They are both myths.

Yeah, I'll just go down to the state capitol and ask them nicely, LOL. View attachment 13321

Police are ass holes, and quite often are nothing but criminals themselves.

Unfortunately, this is true. Every generation seems to get dumber and more selfish.

I can understand that, but why are you singling out a driver going slower than you. The amount of time he may add to your driving time is miniscule compared to the other factors you have listed.

It depends on how far the slow-poke is going and how long it takes to get around him. In rural areas, people are usually going pretty far.

The majority of my 2-lane driving is done in Iowa. There's a reason why it's acronym nickname is "Idiots Out Wandering Around".

I understand your point, to a point. I personally don't have to worry too much about time issues, and when I do I don't take it too seriously. I'm still not going to operate in an unsafe manner just to get there on time. If it can't be done safely then it can't be done.

A little bit of impeding traffic is not usually a deal breaker when trying to make a schedule. Lets say your on a 55mph hwy and the car in front of you is doing 50mph. You follow him for 10 miles before he turns off. How much time has that really cost you?

Based on what I've read, I'll let Duckie run the front door on the two lane, skinny roads. Terry, you and the brick can be the back door trucks. We promise to not drink the coffee pot dry before you get there, maybe.

I'm talking about people going below the speed limit when there's no logical reason for going that slow. If you think that going 55 mph in a 55 mph zone that should by all right be a 65 zone, then maybe you're one of the "scared" people I mentioned.

It doesn't cost much time. But 5 minutes after he turns off, another one always gets in front of me. It never fails. And it's why I hate those 2-lane roads in rural Iowa so much. I guess when you live your entire life staring at corn all day, every day, going 50 mph out on the open road seems kind of exciting.
