The Island of Misfit Toys

Dunno. Most likely payment issues or shifty brokering. Either way, I'm disappointed. Never heard anything bad about them from folks who drive for them. Not counting the folks who b*tch about everything. Decent enough company, as it goes. Doesn't bode well, though.

So, here's a tire question for y'all. Never seen this before. I noticed some road noise that was a little out of the ordinary, so I checked every single tire on my rig once I was docked at my delivery. All are good, and at the correct psi. All except one. Completely flat, zero psi. The tire is fairly new, and completely undamaged. Sidewalls and tread. It was fine this morning. Can a tire just lose its seal on the rim? If so, what would cause that? I don't recall any potholes that were especially severe, didn't curb it or run over anything. If anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it.
Leaking valve stem?

I'd have the valve core at least replaced

Many a conversation has been had about starting this job and changing careers while married. After my time home tonight (unexpectedly) with my wife I will say this. Never have I met a more amazing person, and never have I felt more support. If your sh*t ain't right at home, this change is a fail. When I go to sleep tonight, I'll be holding the greatest person to ever pull a breath on this planet. Because she's here, I'm here. Know where you're at when you start. Money doesn't matter as much as home does. No matter what some supposed "old dog" a-hole tells you. If home is right, you'll make it.

Welp, EFS is down nationwide. Awesome. Hated these damn cards since I got it. Looks like no work for me today. Used Comdata for three years, never had a problem. Had three issues in four months with this card. What a garbage company.

So, here's where my mind went while daydreaming behind the wheel today. Kinda wish I could arrange having two cops with me on the road for a day. One sitting in my truck, one riding behind in a cruiser. Today was an epic day for 4 wheelers texting and driving. The cherry on top of the whipped cream was some old lady in the fast lane steering with her elbows, face buried in her phone in the center of the steering wheel. And holding it with one hand while scrolling with the other. Couldn't maintain a consistent speed, and kept switching her gaze between her phone and her passenger. She almost went in the ditch twice. To be honest I was rooting for it. Almost hit my trailer once by the tandems. She would've gone under and good luck surviving that. Cops can't see what we can. If my daydream scenario happened, those two cops could generate a crapload of revenue in a short amount of time. If any DOT officers see this post and it seems like a good idea to you, consider me a volunteer. It is ridiculous how many people aren't AT ALL driving their cars. I mean not even a little. And yet somehow, we're the problem :rolleyes-80:

Today was a fantastic day for showing up early. Had an open appointment for delivery this morning from 8a-2p. Showed up at 6:55 (they open at 7), was unloaded and leaving at 7:55. My next load was scheduled to pick up at 1p. Arrived at 9:30a. The gate opened, I was told to scale, and was assigned a dock. The guard (who was clearly irritated at my arrival) told me that my load had a 1p appointment. Duh. I just played stupid. "Sorry, I was told this was FCFS". He said they'd try to get to me early but there was no guarantee and I'd probably be waiting until my appointment time. No loss really, what else am I gonna do with my time? Loaded and gone by 11:30a. I've learned to appreciate days like today, they don't happen often. I'm warm and happy, enjoying a beer. Can't really ask for more than that. Cheers y'all.

Had the good fortune of pulling a random load for tomorrow morning that lead to an amazing contact. That combined with an app for my load board made today a game changer. I don't get excited about potential opportunities anymore, because past experience has taught me that everyone in this business WILL let you down, and often. I had a 30 minute conversation with a broker just now who thinks like one of us. I was shocked, based on the conversation, that he had never driven a truck. He'll be getting more business from me without a doubt.
