The Island of Misfit Toys

Days like today reaffirm that I know what I'm doing when I allow people into my life. You're good people @Snowblind and I appreciate the conversation. Mazel tov. It was great to hear from you. Call me again when you're bored on the road.

@Snowblind and @MIT and @Farmer54 this is a strange moment. Just finished my last load for this company, new job starts in the morning. I'm going to have my wife video me running over my Qualcomm when I get home. Two days of orientation then never coming back to this godforsaken state again in my life. So close to freedom that I'm drooling. The third stage of four in my plan is coming up tomorrow. It'll be two or three years before the next stage happens but that's fine by me. I'm no longer a slave. Hope y'all are doin' well. Taking a breath tonight while I have a chance. Cheers guys :)

Thank you very much, kind sir. I'm contemplating starting a new thread on this. However, the company I'll be running under isn't nearly as important as what it'll do for me. The process and the progress. I'm not big on pimping any company. Honestly I feel that any success garnered from this won't really have anything to do with them. That's mine to claim. As will be failures.

Welp, first day in the books. I kinda felt like there could've been some more more time could have been spent on the learning portion of things, but overall it was a pretty good day. The owners (husband and wife) both spent a good deal of time with us and are apparently ever-present in the office. We also met about half of the intimately small office staff individually as we were introduced to rules and expectations from different departments. I think we've all heard people say that where they work is like a family. This is the first time I've actually seen it for real. I'm home :) And my truck passed inspection with flying colors which is a load off my mind. Day two tomorrow and we're done. But I'm likely staying for the voluntary class the next day taught by the owners. It'll just be a half day and I am weirdly compelled to stay just because the owners are so friggin cool. Then off I go into happiness :)

Good on ya

@Snowblind I believe you'd like it here if for no other reason than the office. There about 20 or so women there, and one guy. Those are pretty favorable odds lol. Finally got my first load. Jesus, freight in Georgia sucks. Unless of course you want to pull out of Atlanta. Even then, still kinda sucks. Heading north on this one. Pennsylvania isn't my favorite place, especially this time of year. North is north though. Said goodbye to Georgia for good, praise Odin. You'd have to knock me out, duct tape my hands and feet together and drag my bleeding corpse across the border to get me there again. Here's to you, home of cheap freight 🖕
