The Island of Misfit Toys

That’s one of the things I enjoy about driving. Seeing these places that I’ve only heard about. Seeing Baylor University down in Tx, driving by the Louisville Cardinal stadium in Ky, lol even Mount Union. Place is only an hour or so from my house but never really knew where it was until I got a load of soap.
I was working on a job building a couple of huge dorms at Baylor about a dozen or so years ago. Idjits put a bunch of drywall up long before they even had a roof on the one I was at. Then they were shocked when they had black mold halfway up most of it. I heard they were nearly condemned over plumbing issues about a year after they were done. (Also not my trade)

I hate freight brokers. And customs brokers. Also, bond brokers.

I even started a thread on how much I hate them :D

They’re either dumb, incompetent, lazy, can’t do basic math, can’t read a map, pathological liars, snake oil salesman, bereft of basic human decency or a combination of everything.
Oh I forgot inbred degenerates, too

Friggin’ brokers :thefinger:

Pretty much like dispatchers.....

Sounds like they ought to be in politics :rolllaugh:

Yeah being an ex painter/finisher nothing surprises me in the construction industry.

Right there with you. Had 4 years of finish carpentry before trucking. Before that, a year of basement drain work. Before that, 10 years as a roofer. No lack of shady work out there.

By the way, you can say or do anything you want even if it's negative in response to any of my posts. You get a free pass because you used the word "bereft". I love folks with an intelligent vocabulary. Rock on brother, move the IQ amongst our peers up. But good luck, we got a lot of tards out here. But I'm in your corner. Fire away 😁👍
It’s an uphill battle to try to have our “peers” improve their intellect.

I’ll leave that well enough alone, I get myself in enough trouble around here

Edit.... make that 8 placards. And these are the adhesive type placards. And it was raining. I installed all 32 of them and didn't even make it to the pilot 6 miles down the road before I lost two of them, and dangerously close to a third. Pulled in and immediately went inside to get a roll of packing tape, then waited for the rain to stop. Managed to secure every one of them before rain started again except the two I lost. Looks like I'm getting another rain break, time to go fix the last two. God this load sucks.

Welcome to intermodal. 😂

Well @MIT that was quite a shocker. Never thought I'd see the day when Millis sold out to another company. Changes will be coming quickly for you guys, brace for impact.

If I were you, I'd see if they're going to make you honor your 12 month contract. Cuz if there's any loophole available I'd take it and run. I haven't heard a single positive thing about that company.
I don’t see any reason to run just yet. As long as I stay safe I should be hireable almost anywhere.

You really don’t make me want to pull hazmat....

Usually it ain't like this, for sure
I got a load of those 200 gallon totes of paint years ago. South Carolina I think. Flatbed, of course. Guys on the CB were talking about it being hazmat and needing tanker endorsements

Called safety, they said roll on, Canadians don’t need endorsements and if the shipper wanted placards they should’ve provided them.

Hammer down, c’mon

I'm gonna be relying on pure faith tomorrow. Gotta deliver in Cleveland and almost every major road up there is hazmat restricted. Just got off the phone with the hazmat department at Landstar and was forwarded a route map which shows my intended path as illegal. But he also included verbiage from the state of Ohio that gives me permission to be on those roads with hazmat because my destination is in the county in question. So, it's possible I could get pulled over by a cop smelling blood. Hopefully he'll know the rules, and leave me alone. If not, Landstar said they'll take it to court. It's gonna be an interesting morning.
