They're trained in a "culture of distrust" of anyone that isn't a cop makes them react "before the fact" when they feel the least bit intimidated by someones appearance or percieved demeanor, Whether that individual does anything to provoke that reaction or not.

That's fairly true. If you ever see them in a social situation they are usually "on guard", unless its another group of cops they are with.

You've been described on here as being a cute little petite chick roughly 30 yrs old.

Attractive females get away with all kinds of stuff with cops, .. they just bat their eyelashes a few times and the cops, who were losers in high school and have no experience with women under 300 lbs, get nervous & forget what they even stopped you for. They're not used to attractive chicks actually talking to them instead of pointing & laughing.

Now we're sort of getting to the point of why this thread was started. Cops looking the other way when they get a little nookie on the side. Yes, how you look can play a part in the cop's attitude, but not always.

They're programmed like robots to freak out at the slightest little thing.

If you freakin' SNEEZE while talking to a cop, his arm instinctively goes back towards his gun just because your hands suddenly move to cover your sneeze. They're jumpy as hell.

In a "social situation", if a cop happens to be unarmed, it would be a perfect prank to pop a paper bag behind his head.

Yeah....That's true, The cop has to abide by the restraints placed on him by the constitution so that's why he looks frustrated and ****ed off.
Because given the mentality of most law enfocement people these days....They'd put you and me in the ovens if they though they could get away with it!

Thats laughable. Cops dont have to abide by anything. They could send us to the ovens and get away with it.

Really?

If they could.....I would not be here because I have had more than a few cops that would have loved to send me there.
Hitler demonstrated perfectly what happens when the government turns the police loose to act unilaterally.....We are not yet at that point in this country but we are much closer to it than people would like to think.
We have a president in office right now that would stoop to that level without hesitation if he thought that he could get away with it.

That's good to know! I can relax in the comfort of knowing they can never relax. The only time I get jumpy is when the local dicks. Dick is the old school name for Cops and it seams right to me, roll by. The tweekers, Hoods and Gangbangers don't scare me but the local Cops put the fear of God into me.

Apparently I'm a definite minority in this crowd.

Well you are a girl.

I have never once had a bad experience with a police officer. Not when I was 8 and got busted for vandalism, nor when I was trucking and got inspected several times. Not once have I met a bad cop. I've heard stories from other people, but that's all. On every occasion I have dealt personally with a police officer, they were polite, professional, and friendly.

So far, so good!

Maybe because I never came at them with a bad attitude and a chip on my shoulder?

That is half the battle.

All I can say is that has not been my experience. I've never had to tell a cop no, because they've never asked for anything they don't have a right to ask for. I had one stand on the step one time to look at my elog, but that's the closest they've ever gotten to inside the truck. I've never been pulled over in my personal vehicle, so I have no experience there.

I haven't lived as long as you, so it stands to reason you've had more dealings with cops than I have. Maybe when I'm old, I'll be saying the same things. But it hasn't happened yet.

I believe there are bad cops. But my personal experience does not bear out the opinion that most cops are bad.

It has been my personal experience that proper attitude and body language helps to set the stage each time there is any interaction with law enforcement personnel. Start off with the wrong posture and face and things that might otherwise have gone well will get ugly very quickly.

As has been pointed out, knowing your rights, and what they can and cannot do, and knowing how to present your position will net a favorable result 9 times out of 10.

But there are cops who feel it is OK to act like stormtroopers and feel that they can run roughshod over everyone they encounter. When I am compelled to deal with these assholes I do my best to steer the interaction toward a prompt conclusion.

A comment was made in one post here about cops socializing while off duty. Even while off duty, and when socializing with other cops and cop hangers on, they still do not let their guard down. They are always at the ready, by virtue of training and conditioning.

Pop a paper bag behind a cop's head at a part or some other social gathering, and you will find out real quick what it is like to have your face ground into the floor.

And most cops don't even trust each other.

It wasn't my experience either, until last year. You do that just once and tell me you'll trust every badge until it proves to be a jerk.

My attitude now is professional, but they're jerks until proven otherwise. Those two CHP showed that when they were ready to back that idiot deputy before seeing what really happened.

The one thing you have to do is let a cop inside your bunk to measure the bed. In the process if they see something illegal it then gives them the right to search without a warrant.

396.9 (a) Personnel authorized to perform inspections—Every special agent of the FMCSA (as defined in Appendix B to this sub-chapter) is authorized to enter upon and perform inspections of motor carrier’s vehicles in operation.

Now why would anyone carry contraband ? Don't we have enough to worry about?

No doubt. Like when I crossed back over from Windsor last week. They saw the tarps inside the van I was pulling and it looked suspicious. They had me open the thing up, a guy climbed in the back and looked forward at them. He couldn't really see them all that well, and they still were quite suspicious.

So I challenged them.

"Go ahead and have me back it up to your dock over there, take a ****ing forklift and unload the entire goddammned trailer. Then you will see that it is nothing but some tarps and carpet on a pallet. And then you can reload the ****ing thing and send me on my way. Either way, I need to get rolling, as I have another stop to make today and my clock is ticking."

They handed me my paper work, told me to close the doors and be on my way.

Now.. if you had a refer.. and setpoint was say.... -10 degrees.. you could lay down a area of frost so thick when they opened it up they wouldn't be able to see their own feet...

jus sayin'

Are they allowed to make sure we have white sheets on the bed, too?:coocoo:

:bs:

They are allowed to seize unlawful materials, use them as a basis to obtain a warrant and either arrest for possession of unlawful materials or detain until the warrant arrives. They may search your person pursuant to arrest, but may not search your property.

If you are a company driver, the truck is not your property and permission to search may be obtained from whomever owns the truck.

Lol....The white sheet law was changed. If anyone is unaware. White sheets were required by all truckers to be used as bandages in case of an accident. That was until they realized, who in the hell would want a bandage made out of sheets from a filthy rotten baby raping trucker

You cant change a law that never was.

Step away from the truck stop counter, sir.

The "white sheet law" never existed but, You're right....The idiots at the truck stop counter have been telling that lie for as many years as I can remeber.

I remember laughing at that story in the 70's!
Agree! The white sheet law never existed. Why would anyone buy into a trucker being forced to use their bedding as bandages and from some of the drivers I have seen I would not want their bed sheets anywhere near an open wound of mine.
