Straight trucks - questions

I live in california and im planning to get into the transportation business and i got A couple of questions for you guys .

- how hard is it to find work/loads for a 26-ft straight trucks and how ?

- i was thinking to initially rent a truck when i start since i have no guaranteed contracts to reduce risk , and i was planning to lease or buy when i know i have loads . But to get my dot and mcp i need to have general liability insurance . Is it possible to get liability and cargo insurance if im renting and i dont own a truck ? how ?

I'd say you're putting the cart before the horse. First, you need to find the freight you're going to move and the lane you're going to run, then determine how much truck you can afford, and whether it's viable economically in the long term. In other words, start with a business plan.

Finding freight? Start banging on doors, and ask about it. That's called cold sales calls.

And, no... none of this is easy.
