Shooting at TA in Tonopah, AZ. Right in front of me.

3rd truck stop of my trip this week. First two were closed down, third one has a murder right in front of me.

Got off the phone with my wife, stepped into the sleeper to grab clothes for my shower, and heard a bang.

People gathered around, so I stayed in the truck. Didn’t see the shot because I was in the sleeper, so didn’t see the body because of shrubs between me and the body.

Cops piled in, fire truck showed up, and coroner showed up. Waited til the coroner and fire truck left before going in for my shower.

Pic of my parking spot and where it happened. I was two minutes from walking through where the big tank is, and directly where the shooting happened.

Crime scene tape on my bumper, so I’m definitely stuck here for a while.

Walked over there this morning, looked at the markings painted all over the ground. I noticed yesterday that they were taking photos right behind that large tank in the photo. I guess the bullet ended up over there, cause it turns out everything went down right next to the shrubs.

It looks like a propane tank. I can't read the placard in the pix. A .50 cal may put a small ding in it, but that's about it. No light load would ever penetrate it. The liquid inside would absorb any shock to the skin. The lead would flatten and just drop down, unless it was deflected off of it because of the angle. These silly movies where they shoot at a tanker and it explodes is all Hollywood.

The other day I was reading about a couple drivers exchanging gunfire at a Flying J in Nebraska. It was a result of road rage. Both were apprehended.
