In the days of 2 sticks, those things were important. One of the first things that a driver did when getting into a tractor or truck was to whip out his 8" Crescent wrench and mount or replace the existing shift lever extensions and knobs with the ones that suited him. At times this was by necessity as it wasn't uncommon for to find only threads at the ends of the shift levers. If they're good, get 'em to a skinner who likes the history of what might be a dying breed. BTW, I'm not sure that the profession will completely die. It seems that the number of sensors to control a driverless in winter over the hills and passes in the Sierras, Cascades, Appalachians, and Rockies would take a ton of sensors. Assuming one of those sensors goes gunnysack, I'm guessing that it's over the side, into the ditch, or into a tree or structure with a rig and its cargo.
