Rotator cuff surgery

Giggles

I only look innocent
Just curious....

Any of you here had this surgery? I did 7 weeks ago and let me tell you, I have had 2 c sections, I would rather have another c section before I go thru this again.

Had 5 anchors put in my right shoulder. Long recovery time.

Was in a sling 24/7. Was supposed to be for 6 weeks but after about 4, I couldn't handle it anymore.

Last night was the first night I was able to successfully sleep in bed. Been sleeping in the recliner since surgery.

I have a high tolerance for pain but this pain had me climbing the walls

Had me on Oxycotin, Percocet and Norco.... WASN'T helping.

Looking at many more weeks of physical therapy.

Last week went for my 6 wk follow up. was released from my sling , then put in a splint on my left hand for an inflamed ligament. Interesting taking care if myself right now since I don't have full range of motion with my right arm yet, now in this splint on the other side. Lol. Have to wear it 4 weeks.

Hubby took off the first week but after that been on my own.

Learned how to leash the dogs one handed...lol

I go back in 5 weeks for a check up, he's ordering an MRI for my left shoulder since I am experiencing the same kind of pain and issues I was in my right shoulder. * Sigh*

I just had a different surgery a month prior to this one...fun times indeed.

Gigs, this is what I had 2 1/2 years ago. The six weeks in the recliner was hell on earth! It was 6 weeks in a sling, and I did PT twice a week and exercises every day, from a month before surgery until 6 months after. I did a lot of the exercises on my own after that, even do them occasionally now. I don't quite have full external rotation (elbow straight to side, rotate arm back) but I'm 80% there, and 90+% if I spend a few minutes stretching. All my other ranges are 100+%. It's a noisy sucker once in while now, but other than that, it's better than it was before I injured it. Full detachment of the top cuff, along with labrum tears front and back, so they moved my bicep attachment to the upper arm from the labrum. A few screws and a bit a wire are my permanent friends.

I do a whole set of exercises for my shoulder 3 times a day in addition to PT. Still a lof of things I can do yet. Pretty frustrating.

I'm pretty sure one of my shoulders is in pretty bad shape. Last week I could barely move my arm to shift without excruciating pain, and a dull but fairly intense throb all the time otherwise.

Kinda thought this would all go away when I quit throwing 100 pound chains around.

I'll probably go to a doc. Someday...

My dad ignored pain and numbness in his arm for quite a while. When he finally saw a doctor about it, the nerve damage in elbow was so severe they scheduled him for immediate surgery. Doc says he'd waited any longer, he would have lost the use of his right arm. As it stands now, he'll never recover 100%

You really should have it checked out. The way it was told to me was if you wait too long, might not be able to be repaired. Might not be sufficient tissue etc left to work with .

I think my physical therapist is trying to kill me. He had me do SEVEN new exercises today. Then some bimbo came to put my ice on after and even tho she had just shown me my last exercise to do, tried to ice down the wrong shoulder.

Those machines that pump the ice water through the wrap are the bomb!

Hubby had one at home after surgery. And he had one at therapy. Hubby and our doc swear by it.

I didn't. Insurance didn't cover mine. And they don't have them where I do therapy. I get an ice pack...lol

See that? All that stuff you guys are going through??

It's easier to eat 4 ibuprofen and just keep on keeping on.

Of course...this is the same line of thinking that got my legs destroyed and got me out of the USMC 9 months short of a four year...
