RIP, Girly Truck

If they show up at my house with a tow truck though, there will be shots fired in their direction.

Fact.
Tennessee only impounds if your caught driving without insurance. Had a thug stopped in Memphis, no tag, no insurance, Cop wrote him a couple tickets and told him to go home. Guy fell asleep and killed a guy crossing the median later that day.

Now they tow your car if your stopped without insurance.

what i find equally irksome, is my state, as well as others, want to just "freely" hand out driver's licenses to the undocumented people, saying that they need to get to work, shopping etc. we have been fighting that here, and it has been dropped for now. it was said that (by law) THEY WILL BE REQUIRED to carry auto insurance...yeah right...get the license, show some insurance, drop that later. then here too one would be stuck collecting on a claim.

all for the undocumented to have a driver's license. now i'd surmise that they would still have to go to the DMV, take a written test, then road test. but to me, it is a slap in the face as driving is a privilege, NOT a right. the way i looked at it, it seems as though the state is saying, "they have a right to drive".....

no, they should become citizens FIRST, THEN go the correct way in getting that privilege to drive, and insured!!!!

They all will eventually. If there's anything government can do to cause people more problems, they will.
If people do not carry the required insurance they should not be out here. And we as a society have the right to exclude them until they meet minimum requirements. Which by the way barely cover the cost of a minor wreck.

It does not cover the cost of a minor accident in most cases.

The system is rigged that your under/uninsured motorist kicks in limiting the financial Liability of the at fault party.

Unless you're a trucker. Then you have enough and are a target for lawyers.

I won't use any insurance company that does that. I think State Farm or All-State does that.

If I want to let my insurance lapse & park my ranger behind the barn for a few years that's my own business.

Yeah, except the insurance companies share your info, and if that vin comes back as not having insurance for over so much time, they want to stick you in a high risk policy.

since i am not familiar with some of this, can a person park a vehicle for x amount of time, and maybe pay a one time fee for again that x amount of time (to hold the insured in good standing) till it goes back on the road?

depends on if you have a loan on the vehicle or not....

Last summer, I was able to drop all but collision on my semi. Because I had a lien holder on the vehicle. I kept my cargo up but dropped it to bottom limit just to cut expenses.

Even on my dad's ford ranger, he's parked it in the winter because we won't drive it and dropped the insurance. Entirely.

We do the same thing with our motorcycles.

ah, you see here, we cannot drop our motorcycle coverages. we have to keep them insured all year long. that sucked too, but i was only paying about 500 for an entire year.

you'd be amazed what you can drop the coverage to.

I did last year on my bike only because there was a lien on it. Worked out to like $40 for the 6 months.

yeah, i didn't even (back then) consider dropping any of it. i had it stored at the dealership, as i had no space at the house.

i had a lien on mine as well.

at a dealership, I'd likely not change anything.

Parking it in my backyard in a shed, entirely different situation.

If someone bumps your bike at a dealership is a different beast than if you bump it and knock it over at your house. The exposure to risk is so much greater.

My insurance company already paid what was due from them. I would have recouped my loss of personal property and work time from her (car owner) insurance...but she cancelled the policy. She's apparently one of the millions in Washington State who get insurance on a vehicle only long enough to get the tags, then cancel the policy. I understand 52% of vehicles on Washington's roads are not insured, despite the legal statewide requirement.

This is unacceptable. The only way some people learn is the hard way. That's going to happen here.

Stand by for a Judge Judy episode..
To hell with the legislatures. I agree completely, and its time for Judge Judy on 'roids.

My opinion is if some loser, neglegent, 4-wheeler damages my property or causes me a loss, I'm going after them as far as its legally possible. Very publically. I'll take every damn thing they have.

Actually, I think it depends on if is your only vehicle. I stored my pickup for 6 months in a barn. When I went to reinsure, because my truck insurance was not in my name, their database showed me as having no vehicle with insurance, and kicked me to a high risk rate.

This much damage from a small car. Imagine if it was a pu truck or another semi. I was wandering what triggered the fire untill i read that the car took out the fuel tank as well. Glad nobody was in the sleeper. I dont guess you have your dog ride with you anymore. This crash is the reason i avoid two lane highways whenever i can but alot of times dont have the choice.
