RIP, Girly Truck

Yesterday evening, I was on my way back to the yard when a white car swerved into my lane and hit me head-on. The guy in the car died probably instantly. I'm not going to speculate as to why he did this, even though I have enough details to surmise. Suffice to say, the WSP determined that I did everything possible to avoid the crash and have zero culpability in it. At some point after all the dust settles, I will tell all the details.

Girly didn't make it, either. She caught fire and burned to the frame in a matter of minutes. I was able to unfastened my seat belt and bail out the passenger door, losing one shoe in the process before she was fully involved. I came out of it with a few scrapes and minor burns, then spent the rest of the night peeing, blowing, giving statements and then getting home.

Swift is 100% behind me on this, although I did contact my own attorney to have as an advisor. Now, it's time to get my bearings, learn how to use a new phone and figure out what's nexthe.

That was a good truck. I'll miss her.

Spent ten minutes trying to write some advice. All of it sucked.

So since I happen to be at 6095 and there happens to be a rust brown corn binder here.....Want I should go pour a shot down its intake for Girly?

Trucks can be replaced, memories will fade.....some.....Glad your OK.

Y'know.... we all have our own little "horror stories" and we joke about it and play it all down. But down deep we all know that we are vulnerable just that quick.

That's why we get upset with newbies and their attitudes, because they don't even begin to understand that this isn't a "paid vacation" or "Anybody can do it" snooze fest.

BTW @Injun, Barb joins me in saying "Thank God" for your safety. The world came way too close to losing one of it's "better ones".

Just come in before I hit the bedroll and found your post here.....What a shock read your post four times....So glad you made it out....how bad are the burns and scraps to what degree please. I cannot help but feel that the angels had you by the seat of your pants pushing you out of girly. I just hope you are really all right in every respect. As for girly that gal gave you a lot of good times and trips and in the end her passenger door saved you. I am just glad you shall be here to post and talk with us all. Know your going to need a new set of wheels....But did you save the tom hawk by chance....Tonight we on this forum are all blessed that you still with us all.

Elbow scraped up a little, left arm got some 1st degree burns next to the elbow. I drive with my window down almost all the time. Lot of single things could have gone slightly wrong and I would not have made it out. By the time I was across the highway, maybe 10 seconds tops from stopping, the cab was filled with flames.

It was just that fast. Scary when I think about it. I'm going to bed.
