Teamsters and YRC Worldwide agree to implement $7,500 hiring bonuses to new drivers. YRC will select the regions for the new bonus pay but the local unions have the autonomy to decline them.

These writers can’t seem to refrain from throwing Driver shortage into every article they write.

If you read closely enough in this one, it pretty much says YRC has the driver shortage not the industry. If YRC is able to get contractors to cover work that they can’t, then a industry-wide driver shortage can’t exist.

This just shows that drivers deem YRC as an undesirable company and they’d rather work for competitors or contractors.

Yeah they don't need any part of an LTL operation.

Their warehouses are already bigger versions of those open air hubs, they have new trailers, and they keep buying new trucks.

Maybe buy them, raze the buildings, scrap the equipment, and use the land as overflow parking. They do get desperate for that around here.

Thats the problem the LTL biz faces. Everybody wants to drive around and do nuthin, but nobody wants to work. So the lazy asses get catered to and the good guys get fed up and leave

Gee I wonder why... All of the bullshit the big bottom feeder ATA fleets lobbied for has run most of the good drivers to other industries or retirement.

ELDs, automatic transmissions, wimpy underpowered EPA engines that take ten minutes to reach 65 mph.. you're only going to have the "it's just a job" drivers.

They did it to themselves with their lobbying.
