Rants about newer vehicles

I'd imagine it would take an entire reefer unit just to air condition that greenhouse they call an interior.
didn't the older GM'S come with an awsome A/C unit in them years ago. i remember hearing about people owning older chevy's and cadis back in the day and they all said that the A/C unit was the best thing in the car since it was snowing in there with in minutes

That's all you need.

They only invented the doubles so they could have one that plays both CDs & cassettes. Both have been rendered obsolete by USB & SD cards.
AM radio is outdated to in electric cars because of the electromagnetic interferance

Well yeah. They had actual freon back then. And didn't need to make everything fit in a tiny space.

The AC compressor in my 1976 F-100 was the size of a big truck alternator. Probably gobbled up 20 hp to run it. And it still worked in 2005 when I sold it.

yep they did have real freon back then and not this eco friendly shit and they didn't have all of these driving modes that cut back to power of the HVAC system if you wanna save fuel and drive in the fart car lanes. i highy doubt that one of todays compressors would last 30 years on a car shit some go out under 5 years

I think some cars cut out the AC compressor when you floor it, to give you more power. Because they've just got dinky little one point something 4 cylinders in them.

I do that in the van when I'm on an entrance ramp. Not that I need the power, I just don't wanta step on it as hard.

In a truck if I'm loaded heavy I turn off the AC about a minute before I reach the bottom of a steep incline just to help with cooling.

1998 Sierra. A/C and heater will both run you out.

I bet that in pickup trucks they use the same HVAC parts as their larger interior siblings.

Like the Chevy trucks would have the same HVAC system as the Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, etc. Fords have the Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, etc.

My Ranger's heater will roast me out quickly. It's just a day cab, very narrow. From the drivers seat I can roll down the passenger window and open the door from the outside latch if I wanted to. There's like 3 cubic feet of interior volume in it. Probably has the same heater core & fan they put in the Bronco II and first generation Explorers.

I can roll my window all the way down in the dead of winter and be nice & toasty warm if the heater is on full blast.

I've done it coming home from Van Wyk in Iowa before. It's a 525 mile drive and I would make that commute home after driving the big truck all day. Heat on full blast, window all the way down, rear cab window cracked open an inch, I'd have cold air on my face but enough heat on the rest of my body to compensate for the heat loss and I could stay awake the whole way home.

GM is cranking out some nice vehicles these days.
i would never buy a vette. why and no it's not all about being snotty LOL. but think about it for a min. what's gonna happen to that vette when you open the door LOL it's going to ( depreciate ) in value:(. i would go for a used ferrari in the same price range that has been through a major service and still has some miles left on it. sure service will cost a little more but it's not as bad as people think. but here's what i am saying. a ferrari will hold it's value over the vette. depending on the market and what cars are hot and in high demand. you will more than likely be able to get what you paid for it and or if not you might get more than what you paid for it again depending on the market and if the car is in high demand.. when i sold my 458 and traded up. that car is in high demand and i was offered 15% more than what i had paid for it!!! Another example would be the mclaren P1 wich sold for 1.2 million new and now it's selling for 2.1 million used!!!

yep some cars do cut back on the HVAC system so they can have that get up an go as well as some cars cut back on it to depending on what driving mode you choose:bonk:. i live i CA i want max A/C 24-7:D. so i don't cut back on the HVAC system and i step on the gas going on on ramps. i know on the I8 yea it cut's back on the HVAC system depending on driving modes but i don't notice it since it's ran off the electric system and not the gas motor

manufactures starting to pipe the exhaust sounds through the cars audio systems. i find that insulting:stare1:
Yeah some folks are trying to tell me I made a mistake going with the V-8 instead of Ecoboost pickup. But my sound is natural. My power is simple. And I don't have that notorious carbon issue. Nobody knows how long the Ecoboost will hold up. They haven't existed for 20 years.

i would have opted for the V8 to. the eco boost engines are not that proven yet and they already had issues with them is you remember and that's even if you heard about it. i like a vehicle with a natural sounding exhaust and pref something that don't sound like an electric razor as well:eek::D:biglaugh::rolleyes: and yes i like it loud nothing like hearing a properly tuned engine sitting there idling sounding like it's swallowing the fuel from the tank:yahoo:. after all the engine is part of the dynamics of the vehicle:stare1:. i love the engine in the chiron it sounds like it's sucking the fuel from the tank while it's idling and when you take it out on the freeway and mash the gas:eek: the engine in that bitch sounds like a fucking jet it's just mental and intoxicating:coocoo:
