Prostate Cancer

I just received the call. Not "a call" but the call. A dear friend of mine got his biopsy results today. All 12 biopsy's were positive. Level 4 cancer. Not one of the nicer forms of prostate cancer either. He said "I felt fine I just wish I had went to the Dr a year ago when I first started having frequent urination issues." I am posting about this because in this profession it is all too easy to convince yourself that you are too busy to take the time to have the necessary appointments and test. Sorry about your friend,It's a scary thing and most drivers wont talk about it. They see alot of the signs as work related.

Wow, sorry to hear about your friend. I had that done to me many years ago, I almost decked the Doc. I said, I would NEVER, do that again. Just had a great friend, Viet Nam buddy, past away from cancer. Told dem, I was that Orange Shyt. I can not put myself through something like that ever again. I would rather die.

Thanks for the heads up Flake... Sooo sorry to hear about your friend. Cancer has little mercy, and, can get a head start, working on you, before you even suspect it's there.

Prostrate Cancer took my better half's cousin a while back. It wasn't pretty. Some of you older guys may know of him. Ronnie Sox was a man's man. Cancer whittled him down to nothing, then killed him.

Get yourself a woman doctor. Then the prostrate exam becomes a so much more different, and, better experience. :winking:

But yes cancer is a terrible thing, I have lost a couple of relatives to breast cancer, it is not something to mess around with.

And BTW you ding dongs, the PSA test is just a simple blood test.
If you want the old-fashioned exam done by a woman Dr., that'll probably cost you extra.........:winking::jiggy:

The PSA test AND the digital (you know the finger wave) prostate exam are essential for every man 50 years old or older. So many guys have a hangup about getting a finger stuck up their ass, but believe me, the prospect of prostate cancer treatments, the potential for loss of the ability to make love with your partner, and the prospect of dying from this disease is a far greater problem that a finger in and out in less than a minute.

Get it done, every time you get a physical, and if you aren't feeling right, ask to get it checked out. The unpleasantness of a digital rectal exam is extremely small compared to the pain and agony of the alternative.

One more thing to think about. I know I dislike needles, and the thought of a needle getting stuck anywhere near my asshole is much more bothersome to me than a finger.

Get it done today!

So sorry to hear about your friend snow. Cancer does not discriminate, it will attack anyone. The only defense is to get regular checkups. It isn't always easy if you are and otr driver. When I worked in a nursing home I had a lady tell me to never get old, and I asked her what was the alternative?
