Does anyone have any info regarding Prime's operation and would you recommend them as someone to sign on with?

I don't know how anybody can drive such a slow trk,they're like 58 without the cruise and 62 with the cruise.Once upon a time Prime and crengland was one of the fastest companies out here,now they're the slowest.

You are new to the industry and are already leasing a truck?? I hope it works out for you. I think they cut their trucks back again. They must be governed around 57 or so. I don't understand why these companies put these huge horsepower engines under their hoods then castrates them. Kind of defeats the purpose.

All of their business managers went to the same class on how to pinch a penny till it screamed.

Just an FYI for those about the settings on the truck. Current setting are 62 without cruise and 65 with cruise. Majority of the trucks they lease are Cascadias which get their optimum fuel mileage between 56 and 62. My wife and I lease from them and average about 1700/wk after expenses. You are not an O/O because you do not own the truck while leasing. However you are an independent contractor and therefore have the same tax breaks and deductions that any O/O has with the advantage of Prime's fuel discount.

To anyone interested in the leasing 'fairy tale' - look up tax law and read for yourself:

What you are is a company employee paying THEIR expenses while you go broke.

When you lease from Prime, you are not a company employee. You are not leasing the truck from Prime, but from a leasing company. Just so happens that the owner of Prime owns that also. You are not an Owner/Operator (only because you do not own the truck under the law), but you are an independent contractor. Whether as a sole proprietor or a LLC, you still can claim the full amount of tax benefits that an O/O can.

Sorry about the late postings in here. Been with Prime for a little over a year now and started with them on the lease program. Trying to get caught up with things here, so will quote the original post just for any newcomers to reference. Just one thing that I want to put out there: every company has its' good and bad. And the trucking industry is probably one of the toughest businesses to make everyone happy. It's next to impossible. So take the negativity about a company you may hear or read with a grain of salt, especially on social media. The majority of things I have heard that are negative regarding Prime turn out to be either from someone who thinks they know so much more about the business, or from someone who just doesn't understand basic business math or thinks that everyone else owes them. If you are just getting into the business it does require a commitment and dedication the first couple years that you may not realize at first. And to date Prime has done everything to see that my wife and I succeed in our lease (more than any other company that we have heard about), and we have no complaints.

I did great for my first year at Prime. After that, it was a different story. But I had previous experience to compare it to.

I make more money at the end of the week, with way less hassle since I came back to Swift. It has been consistent since I signed on over two years ago.

I hope you continue to do well.
