Why???
There's nothing on CB these days worth mentioning. Everyone uses their cell phones. There absolutely no point in wasting money on tuning and peaking... it's been a few years since I even ran across a shipper or receiver that even bothered with a CB.

Grain Elevator places still use CB Radio and if we were all running together same place we'd flip like channel 2 n talk smack or just bull-crap

If your truck has weather bands on the radio, this feature is not needed on the CB. If you have a smart phone, this feature is not needed on a CB.
Total investment on a radio, even if you peak and tune it, should be no more than $200-$250. That will get you a nice radio, more radio that you need on the road today.
Now, if you are thinking of being a hobbyist, and maybe getting into amateur radio, by all means, knock yourself out and sink some money into the hobby.

I wouldn't buy anything more than a cheap Cobra 29. Don't bother with "peaking and tuning." Unless you have a specific need for that, its a waste of money these days. Hardly anyone uses them any more.
Peak and Tune is cheap, and you can typically avoid the mistake of buying a new radio and get one that has be reworked from a decent CB shop. Peaked and Tuned, probably a couple upgrades, cheaper than a typical 29.

Some of the guys I used to work with had TWO CB's. One they'd use on our channel, and one they'd leave on 19 to yell at drivers doing dumb things while we had intersections all tied up. That's a bit much, I think.

Yeah that’s a little over the top. An argument could be made for running two when there was some actual traffic on 19, but anymore I don’t see the point in running two. At least not in my operation.

Yeah, and with an electrical engineering background, I know something about what CB shops are trying to pass off. About the same snake oil as an Aircel magic tube for your truck's air-to-air.

It was two brothers. Every thing they did was over the top. The one was a huge gadget freak. He went and bought an anemometer for when they crane crews said they were shutting us down and not unloading our blades and such. He'd hear that and come flying out of his truck holding the thing in the air. Nice enough guys, but man did they push.
Anyway, I was running a General Lee at the time, 33 watts barefoot, with a single coax and a Wilson 2000, tuned at a decent radio shop. Tilted slightly forward so that when the truck was moving the ti[ of the antenna sat straight up. Usually, I could talk across the entire wind farm, which was handy given that cell phone signals were often limited.
That's really the only time I ever found a need for a decent radio setup.

I run a barefoot general lee myself. It does the job. I had one hooked to a Texas Star 660 it was a big radio for sure

I met a guy at the pilot who was selling CB calling cards. They were cheap. Like a nickel a minute cheap. I bought 10 250 minute cards. I will mail you one for my cost of you want it.

Back when cell phones were charging extra for roaming, I set up a telescoping tower inside a spread axle with a side kit. I'd find somewhere at night on good elevation, roll the kit out of the way and winch the tower up. I had a set of Moonraker 4's with a Gizmotchy ground plane. It was right at 52 feet fully extended, and I would turn the truck to talk to whichever family member was on there.
I never dropped a call either.
