Objectionable behaviors, often found at truckstops, PT.1:

In the another thread, i listed a set of behaviors that, without question, were indicative of the trailer lifestyle, were objectionable, negative and boorish.

Many/most of these behaviors/traits are often found at truckstops, but are not limited to that area. Since some folks were questioning why i put them in the truckstop section it seems like it may be better to discuss them here. It is hoped that by discussing them, we can better learn why these behaviors are practiced. We can then recommend ways to prevent them from happening further and thus society can improve.

First let's discuss the divorce thing:

a) been divorced twice. More than twice would be better to describe you though.

i would like to ask from the woman's perspective first; Why get married at all if you are just going to get divorced? Or maybe it was his fault?
My personal thought is if you want to sleep around, then just sleep around; There's nothing wrong with that. But let's get the woman's perspective first.

Do they DO divorces at truck stops now?

Yep. And in the month of Sept. You get double points for letting the manager of the Peelot preside. Or was that marriage and Flying Hookers was the divorce?

Well at least they have drive throughs so you can just circle around after getting frisky :rolling:

What is the issue you have with divorce? Many people get married, then realize that it is not a good match. Some never seem to get it right, and spend a lifetime getting married and divorced.

It is not a crime.

Nor is it "trailer lifestyle, objectionable, negative and boorish".

Certainly marriage, or at least living together in a committed relationship, is better behavior than "sleeping around".

The issue i have is why get married in the first place if you are going to get divorced? You mean you couldn't figure out this was a good match BEFORE you got married?

i'd like to hear from some women first, then i will inject my thoughts on the subject.

Many couples are entering a relationship looking for "the one," when they ought to be seeking the one they are willing to put up with their quirks. Often mistaken as sacrafice and compromise.

sacrafice and compromise is the relationship vs sacrafice and compromise being a part of the relationship can mean the difference between success and failure.

Butter, ... I know the odds are 1 in 3 million, ... but do you happen to be a British immigrant, former horse jockey who lives in Brooklyn? You remind me of somebody.

When did it become your station in life to decide what was acceptable or not?

I'm wondering why any of this is your business in the first place.....

It is hoped that by discussing them, we can better learn why these behaviours are practiced. We can then recommend ways to prevent them from happening further and thus society can improve.

It is hoped? Seriously?

What are you....The "hall monitor" for everyone elses life?

I've been divorced 3 times.

So what?

i would like to ask from the woman's perspective first; Why get married at all if you are just going to get divorced?

So what? Do you think people get married with the intention of getting divorced later on?

Or maybe it was his fault?
Or maybe....Two people decided that what they thought might work in the beginning wasn't right for them and then decided to call it quits rather than stay together and not be happy.

My personal thought is if you want to sleep around, then just sleep around; There's nothing wrong with that.

That's not trashy?

I guess he actually believes people get married with the knowledge they fully intend to be divorced at some point.

I'm still going with a jilted bloke who thought once he talked her into it she couldn't leave.

The objections behavior I hate the most, is when some boorish, self righteous, holier than thou SOB tries to steam roll people with his view of what is morally acceptable.

Take your narrow-minded views back to whatever rock you came from, and quit trying to act like you have the secret to life.

I need a drink.

Fine. I'll bite. I never got married with the intention of getting divorced later.

First marriage started pretty good. The only dark spot was his parents. He was 33 when we got married, but his parents treated him like he was 15. We left the country because of his military duty. The distance was good. We returned to the States and, even though we were over 1,000 miles from them, their presence loomed in my household.

My own immaturity and lack of self confidence definitely did not help. I did not feel like a productive and valued member of the family. This was my own shortcoming. I listened too much to the opinion of his father and allowed myself to be dragged so far down that I thought he would be better off without me. So I left. The divorce wasn't filed until almost three years later.

Second marriage lasted about nine months. You don't really know people until you live with them. The next time you walk in on your spouse engaging in deviant behavior with an animal, you tell me how much longer that marriage will last. I was so sickened by it that I never, ever said another word to him. I moved out that day.

Third marriage, I became a truck driver and he became lonely. We're still good friends, just not married anymore.

Hey Butter..... I'll take my neighbors in this Trailer Park any day and twice on Sunday over many of the sanctimonious bastards in the "upper crust" housing devlopments and "gated communities" I've seen. Everybody here helps each other in time of trouble and leaves you alone when you need it. We're all working people making do as best we can. Some youngsters just starting out, some older folks, some of us slowly winding down. None of us are in foreclosure nor struggling to make payments on houses that are two or three times more expensive than they're worth. I've looked close at many of those $250,000 and up "dream palaces" that the "good people" are in and they ain't one bit better constructed than the trailer I live in. You gotta be an idiot to buy one of those overpriced shacks.

So stuff it brother.

Occasionally, I'll remind those who want to judge on this matter, that God Himself is a divorcee.

And I saw, when for all the causes for which backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

That usually shuts them up.

Another very well put post. I would insist the last part of your post as being the most important. Judgmental, myopic people need to have it stuffed for them.

Not many people do know this.

I understand that some marriages don't work. Free Will, which is a God given trait, is supposed to be used and it is by this where we learn in life and gain life experiences. Divorce is a dynamic situation, who are we to be the one's to pass judgement?

When did it become your station in life to decide what was acceptable or not?

I'm wondering why any of this is your business in the first place.....

Simple yet refined questions that he should answer. So Butters, where art thou?
