I have a brand new unit that cranks but won't start. Is there a fuel line from the truck to the unit that needs to be turned on?

If its brand new, you should have a warranty to get it fixed.
Low fuel in the tank that the APU draws from can cause fuel starvation.
Have you checked the interior for fuel leaks?
Don't know if there is one on an Evolution, but older TriPacs had a crud filter that would become clogged - before the fuel pump.

If you watch the video he tells you what to listen for. You can have a good idea if its the fuel pump by listening when it tries to start.
