Hey all!!! My name is Derek but my friends call me Dingo.
I am 49 years old and am starting a new career. I was in EMS for 17 years, a paramedic for 12 and these last 18 months or so have been hard. So I decided out of the blue, and with the blessing of wife and family to try something new.
I start the CDL program at Roehl on December 27th in Appleton. I am excited to try truck driving and am looking forward to new adventures. I have heard alot of things about Roehl, both bad and good. I know, big company you are just a number. So I am gonna get my experience and see where it goes.
I Look forward to meeting new friends on here and on the road.

welcome.

when i was teaching, the best place we'd highly recommend, was Roehl (pronounced.... rail)

you might have found a home there. you have a few choices where to go with them. van, reefer, flatbed.....also depends on your home location and thier lanes for each division.

best of luck, keep us posted to your progress.

Welcome!

I have also talked to a few Roehl drivers and their experience was positive.
If it's a good fit, it's a good fit and if it don't fit then you quit.

Roehl has a lease purchase program. I don't know how pushy they are about it.

Do NOT get into one of these until you have a good amount of experience (the actual amount may vary because some people catch on quicker than others) AND are prepared at home for a lease program.

Which is a subject unto itself. However, on the subject of catching on quickly - do NOT be one of those people that thinks the "post trip" comes first and argues about that never realizing how stupid they look.

It's amazing.
