Motorcycle Ramp?

My mom told me that my dad recently bought one. He had one when he was a teenager back in the Iron Age. I haven't seen it yet.

She told me she banned him from even trying it because he's old and fragile now. But of course, he never listens. (Who listens to nagging women anyway?) So, ... I'm kind of keeping an open eye out for a good deal on a used motorized wheelchair.

Wait until he figures out how to put one of his motors on it. Heh...

You need a longer board. Get a good wide 2 by something, the widest and longest you can get. If it's too much of a span for the weight of you & the bike, beef it up with 4x4's on the bottom, using lag bolts. You can do it, it just takes skill. Oh, and you'll want to put something on the top end of the board that won't let it slip off the trailer. A reefer has a little water drain channel right inside the tail edge that you could have something like a piece of angle-iron stick down into but I don't know about dry-vans. I haven't pulled one in 7 years.

No, he is just using the boards the wrong way, what he needs to do is use those boards and build a ramp about 15 foot behind the trailer then jump the bike in, like Knievel.

That looks a lot easier to learn than a unicycle.

Until you have to hit the brakes really hard.

Like to know how he can see what is in front of him,, if he leans over he tips over. must have been invented in Poland. (are Polack jokes still acceptible on here?)

I have carried a bike for 5 years. If you want to ramp it onto the trailer your pushing your luck. You would probably need ramps 15'-20' long. You might also run into a legality problem. My bike is behind the sleeper. But to do that you need a certain amount of distance to clear the trailer in turns. Many company trucks are too short. The bike I chose was specifically to do this. ( have other bike I would much rather ride). I use standard 7' motorcycle/ATV ramps up to the step on the fuel tank. I walk up one ramp and motor the bike up the other. Its something of a balancing act and I have dropped it a couple times. The trailer sits a foot higher and that makes all the difference. On your R6 you would have to remove the lower fairing (no matter what route you take). There is a company that makes an automatic loader, but you need ALLOT of space between the sleeper and trailer, and it is heavy.

As far as legality goes: I have been pulled over once in Texas and the cop swore it was illegal, but couldn't find any such law. While the DOT had my attention in Iowa he told me there is no federal law, but I was violating a Iowa law since the truck was more than 65' long. He claims somebody was given a ticket for carrying a bicycle behind the sleeper. I asked him what about carrying a tool box or spare tire and he said that was OK since it related to the operation on the vehicle. I think I would argue a motorcycle is emergency transportation, hence part of the operation of the vehicle (like a lifeboat or dingy).

i hate all these rules :\ i mean its pretty bad out here, and yes if you put a spare tire your truck+trailer length is legal, if its a bike or bicycle its not legal? bs! dot is bs!

Really?

I hate to break it to you junior....But that's not a rule!

A friend of mine pulls for Sammons and he stretched his tractor about 4 feet and installed a ramp system to carry his full dress Harley between the truck and trailer and has been running it for a few years and through multiple inspections with no problems.
If you are going to pretend to be a trucker and then "complain" about the rules that don't really apply to you anyway....Learn the rules!

It'll make you a much more "convincing" poser.

Lots of guys have huge sleepers like this one....View attachment 6813And yet you seem to think that someone will bust you for putting a bicycle between your truck and trailer?
Or on a bike rack in front of your radiator?

Because of length? What about those "Moose Killer" bumpers? they are bigger than a bicycle or motor driven bicycle, Are they not?

blackw900 learn the rules? i dont think i can learn that a spare tire makes your truck legal, when a bicycle doesnt? its not like you move your 5th wheel back for more space... im just saying that some of the dot rules are stupid... most are reasonable and i agree but some are just stupid..

You have no idea what you're talking about.....

I don't drink....And, I actually own and drive my truck.

I will repeat...You haven't got a clue what you're talking about in this thread.
