Motorcycle Ramp?

i am based out of New York and i travel all over USA with my own truck/trailer, i also bring my r6(motorcycle) with me in my trailer if i plan to chill in miami, fl or other places such as charlotte, nc... im looking for a nice motorcycle ramp that i can get to ride my motorcycle in the trailer, that would be so much easier than using cross docks, i tried couple boards but the trailer floor is way too high and the board is very steep and unsafe to ride something in/out of the trailer... thanks

But....But, I thought you were running so hard that you don't have time to sleep!

When are you gonna find time to ride the bike?

Maybe after school....If your mom will let you out of the house?

j911brick carries a bike on the tractor behind the sleeper. Maybe he will post a picture of how he has it set up.

yea i gotta check that out, sometimes you get stuck and have to sit a day or 2 with no load, that would be awesome to get on something and go where ever you can in that area instead of sitting in the truck all day.

blackw900 stop being an idiot.... everyone takes vacations

I don't see where blackw900 is being an idiot. Looked like a reasonable observation to me. This in and of itself excludes him from the idiot club. Idiots have no observation skills.

Oh. About the motorcycle. Might want to check on this, but I believe you are not allowed by DOT to carry personal cargo with no BOL the same vehicle with paid freight. The catwalk is probably your best bet.

You need a longer board. Get a good wide 2 by something, the widest and longest you can get. If it's too much of a span for the weight of you & the bike, beef it up with 4x4's on the bottom, using lag bolts. You can do it, it just takes skill. Oh, and you'll want to put something on the top end of the board that won't let it slip off the trailer. A reefer has a little water drain channel right inside the tail edge that you could have something like a piece of angle-iron stick down into but I don't know about dry-vans. I haven't pulled one in 7 years.

What about the flatbed guys who haul a bicycle on the front? I saw a drop-deck that the guy had made a bike rack on the front of the step & he brought a bicycle with him everywhere.

Most trucks don't have room for a motorcycle on the catwalk.

One thing to consider is that you can't haul any type of foodstuff in the trailer if you've got the bike in there. Something about regulations regarding the gas in the tank, oil in the engine, antifreeze, etc. In 2007 the boss let me haul my ATV and the trailer I haul it on, in the back of a reefer. The trailer was on top of the freight, which was crates containing transmission cases, and the ATV was just sitting on the tail, in 4WD with the parking brake on. He told me to drain the gas & oil but I didn't. (It was brand new, didn't leak.) I would not have been able to do that if there was food in the trailer. The trans cases were slimy & oily, so the trailer needed washed out before hauling food with it anyway.

yea i want to get something going so that i dont have to drive my truck when i could just roll in my bike :p or atleast carry a motorized bicycle behind the sleeper

If it's a motorized bicycle you're better off just carrying a regular 10 speed or something. You'll get around just as fast most of the time, and it's good exercise.

yea you are right about the exercise, all truckers do is pretty much sit and sleep... in this case i think im better off with a good mountain bike, i wish someone could post a pic on how they have theirs strapped to the back of the sleeper

I think we should be allowed to have bicycle racks on the front of the trucks. I've seen them on RVs and buses. All that whining from the DOT about sleep apnea & driver health should be turned against them to make them allow bike racks on the front. I'd carry a bicycle if I ran for a carrier that had me sitting around a lot, or at least gave me realistic delivery schedules.

Check out making your own out of an old aluminum ladder, just screw some light decking on it and add some hooks so it doesn't slip.

I have seen a very few trucks with bicycle racks on their fronts.

There's also an option you can put inside the truck:

About 5 or 6 years ago, I mentioned to my dad that I wouldn't mind having a folding bike to carry in the truck. He's STILL sending me eBay & craigslist ads for folding bikes in my e-mail.

If you don't know, why post it? I don't even have to look it up. You can carry anything you want (except booze) in your trailer without a manifest or bol, as long as your company approves and you don't have hazardous cargo, ie. Gas and oil above a certain amount.
