Miles with Werner

I'm getting on a plane tomorrow for CDL training! I got a job lined up with Werner when I graduate. Just wondering what kind of miles Werner solos are getting. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Don't bother trying to be a werner solo right now.
They want team drivers. They have not officially said it but from what I can tell they are trying to get rid of solo OTR all together. They use solo's for regional and net-ops but there are no positions open right now.

I was a "voluntary quit" as of friday from Werner. After my 300+ hours of training, I was informed there were no trucks or routes available. 7 of us were testing out at the same time in Springfield. After being told nothing was available, 2 had decided that they wanted to get back on their trainers trucks. They wouldn't even let them do that. They sent all of us home. One guy was so ticked off that he actually was calling other trucking companies from the main lobby trying to get another job...and yes, he was talking loud enough that I'm sure everyone in the terminal could hear him! Oh well, working on getting on with a local company that is hiring students right now. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have a new job.

I could'nt wait to read this one.Werner will never change.No matter how much freight picks up,Werner is one company that you don't get the miles.I should know I was there almost 3 yrs.Only because I got along real good witth my dispatcher who kept talking me out of quitting.You'll find another job.

Just got the call from the local company. Interview is Thursday, I think he wanted me to come in today, but I have prior commitments. My wife works with a drivers wife and she says that they are a good company to work for. Hopefully this works out.

Am I missing something here?Werner hires people,trains them and then sends them home because they don't have a truck for them????What kind of asinine modus operandi is that?What is the justification and how is Werner benifiting?
Don't get me wrong,I am not questioning your claim(I've seen it several places)I simply do not understand it.

Werner gets "x" amount of federal tax dollar for "training or creating a job" from each student...after that they apparently don't care what happens to the individual, unless they have a route open.

That is OUTFREAKINGSTANDING!! no one is more creative at wasting my (and yours) money than the Govt.I saw a post on here not long ago that the Govt was looking at reducing Veterans medical benefits and yet they piss away money like this?

I hope every driver,be it rookie or vet driver who is thinking of driving for these suckholes sees this and thinks better of it.

Keendriver that's how Werner always has been.You sit,sit,sit and sit either waiting for a trk or your next load.That's why Werner has the highest turnover rate in the industry then Swift.The 3 yrs I was with Werner,I started out at 24cpm and ended with 29cpm.You not only don't get the miles but they are the lowest paying trucking company as well.They get many complaints on a dailey basis.They don't care.You don't like how we operate our business then quit.We have 10 drivers waiting to fill your trk.That's how they think.Werner will always be that way.I even emailed Mr.Werner as you can see that did'nt do abit of good.I use to get so angry getting routed to the terminal and have to sit there for 3 days waiting for those mechanics to work on my trk.It could be something as simple as a loose screw.Instead of you wanted to fix the problem that would only require a screw driver they'd rather have you sit for days.Then they swap and split every load you have unless it's a hazmat load or load going to canada or a load under 300 miles.You sit waiting for the driver to pick up your load which takes literally hrs and by the time driver picks up load you're out of hrs to run.When you do deliver a load you site for hrs waiting for the next load.I knew the drill real well.I did'nt look forward to load with good miles because I knew Werner would take it from me and my dispatcher wondered why I got so angry and stressed.

I think the only way to make life decent at the massive van outfits is to find a dedicated deal all your own, and stick with it. Being "in the system" is usually a nightmare. I have a friend who drives for Covenant, and what is being talked about here is very similar to what he says about Covenant, so I imagine it's all the same with all the huge companies. He has his own little special deal, and is pretty happy doing it, but for a while he was in the system, and damn near lost his mind.

Got the job with the new company...pays much better and much smaller outfit. I was told if I don't get at least 2500 miles a week, they will let me know that they are not happy. Drivers with them are averaging 3200 miles a week.

Last post didn't go through...got the job with the local company. They don't like it if you get less than 2500 miles per week...plenty of miles to get with them. Hopefully this works out, can't be worse than Werner.

HAHA werner. They just spent a fortune here yesterday. Right before 6 pm on the Acosta bridge, a werner driver took the exit too fast , hit the wall and split open the trailer. Paper says he is getting charged with reckless driving. Can we all say in unison...........Dude your Phucked, you will never drive again.

It's not that they are one of the lower paying outfits,or the fact they make you sit.Everyone knows what the pay rate is when they sign on and if they sign...well that's what they get.And as far as sitting,I think everybody is doing more and more of it.
What gets me is the premeditated way they go after people new to this industry.You think they don't know how many trucks they have available at A given time?
It sounds to me like these folks are being brought in,told they would be trained and employed,only to be told "well we don't have A truck for you".Meanwhile Werner puts the Govt(yours and mine)money in their pocket.And the trainees go home.
If I'm wrong about this someone please enlighten me.
Otherwise I'm sticking to the whole"Gas truck" "Tastes his own blood" rant.
