might be really close to joining the owner operator world again

By Friday, I was aggravated with the whole thing anyway, and we were in route to Graceland (took my wife there for her birthday). Decided to quit worrying about it til Monday, which rolls around tomorrow.

I took my wife and mother in law to Graceland last year....I had a good time and so did they.

How's the job hunt going @Mike? I'm on my way to another interview this morning.

Not sure I would call it a hunt yet, more of a browse.... LOL. I got one situation I am actively pursuing, but not rushing. If it doesn't work out, then a hunt begins....

I did call Crete yesterday, just to see how they operated now, as opposed to when I was there in 2007. They no longer let you choose between a choice of three loads for dispatch, so it is simply a rigid forced dispatch now. Pay is still good compared to other companies. Also got some decent "home weekly" options with a couple mega carriers, something I would consider due to where I live in proximity to a big Georgia Pacific plant.

If there's only one Georgia Pacific plant in southern Arkysaw, I was there in 2004 when I drove for Covenant. I hated it because they made me sweep out my trailer & kept nit-picking that it wasn't clean enough. I told 'em if they want it any cleaner than I could get with their push broom, they'd need to give me an air hose or a leaf blower or something.

That load was either paper towels or toilet paper, I don't remember. It went to Tracy, CA.

That would likely be Crossett, Arkansas. They have always been picky.

You need to change the thread title to
"might be really close to joining the Lease operator world again"
Just sayin

Sounds familiar.

I took these pics somewhere around there.
That would be it. Ouachita River bridge, and Felsenthal wildlife area. They are introducing black bears into the area, for some stupid environmental reason :)

I bet the local rednecks are introducing lime & shovels to the area. :D

Rather than a new truck, I am going with a used truck. Used Freightshaker instead of a New Kenworth like I wanted, but going through a KW dealer as a first time truck buyer requires a bigger down payment than I am willing to deal with. I worked out my plan to sign a one year lease/purchase with this truck. Who knows, I might decide I like it and keep it. Most likely, trade out for a new truck after the one year though.

Be a couple weeks before I go to orientation, but looking forward to getting started with this misadventure :)

It's what fits for me right now.

I am REALLY curious to know how this works out for ya.

I've heard good things about their program, and wonder if they are true.

Who knows, they might need a driver that is a fan of racing.

Juss sayin.....;)

I know a guy who did the same thing except he bought his truck at a dealer.

2 years ago he tried getting me a job driving for Hostess. Said I'd make good money & have job security.:stare1:

Your better off with a good used one that has had all the warranty work done and all the bugs worked out.
Its only been in the shop one time for a simple solenoid replacement.

First thing I did when I had the vin was call freightliner to check the warranty history and make sure there were no open recalls that needed to be performed.

Yup. Thats what I mean a good used one, That has no problems is better than a brand new one with problems. There is no way to tell if a brand new one is a lemon.
