Let's make fun of Minnesota.

There was plenty of murder on both sides of that war. And it was about much more than slavery.
Its pretty obvious from the debates in southern legislatures and the newspapers it was totally about the institution of slavery. Since the war, theres been an entire industry devoted to changing that picture to something - anything else, to cleanse both the south and those in the north who made vast fortunes off of slavery.

It's stained with the blood of all the people murdered by the Lincoln administration.

Had nothing to do with commerce. 🙄🙄🙄 being over taxed on goods returning from manufacturing process in the north, or the fact of a government that the southern states didn’t feel represented them anymore. There were more factors than JUST slavery. But the media made it solely about slavery.

No, all history books in public schools and colleges have been cleansed to reflect it only being about slavery.

Please! Don't be dragging your modern hate for everything media into this. Go read what was said in those days in the secession debates. It was all about slavery, and the impending financial losses that emancipation represented.

Keep believing that tinny, they have indoctrinated you well.

You're the one whose been indoctrinated to believe that slavery was some sort of paternal must-have thing.
Hahahaha! No. I think slavery is wrong in every form. But to believe a war has one sole cause is bullshit especially a civil war.

Just like the Bible you can read stuff and interpret it how you wish. Over looking the taxation and the suspension of commerce is forcing one sole agenda. And that’s not right.

Yeah they had to or kids would make the connection that the North was doing to the South what the British did to the United States and that the South was fighting for its independence from the North the way the USA fought for independence from Britain.

Lincoln made it about slavery to retain support for the war because most didn't want it. Make it about freeing slaves and heck yah can't not support that.

It's like the middle East. We didn't care about just knocking off Hussein or Bin Laden per se or cheap oil or we'd have gone after them forever ago. But throw WMD and defense and 9/11 and freeing the poor citizens and bam support for war.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. Apparently you are a learned man Mr Chicken.

You're correct in this as far as it goes for the North. In 1860 the North and South were fighting over different things. The North was fighting to retain the Union. To the South, the furor over the Missouri Compromise, the Fugitive Slave Act, and the intransigent opinion of the New England states toward slavery (among many other perceived threats) represented an intolerable threat to the way of life of the rich and powerful. The average Southerner really didn't have a financial stake in it.

If you do read what was being said in the southern state legislatures, it was all about slavery because that was the foundation of the wealth of the south. Lincoln as with most northerners didn't give a rat's was about slaves until much later.
