I've been a freight relocator in B trucks since '95, got my class A in 2014, but because no one would hire a greenhorn to drive their tractor trailers, I didn't get my first job driving rigs until 11/2021. Drove a Pete 579 pulling a 53' walking floor for Twin Oak tree care, various slip seat daycabs pulling dry vans for Quickstar Logistics, and E. F. Thompson, I had my very first DOT reportable accident driving a Thompson tractor bobtail to get a trailer on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 and because the other driver got injured, it's considered reckless.
Reckless stays on my CDL for 11 years here in Virginia, I'm 61, my first accident has retired me, now I have to find a new "career" to fund my wife and I for the next 5 to 10 years until I can actually retire of my own accord.
Can't be a company driver, already checked on if I was an O/O with my own insurance with Payne trucking in Fredericksburg, VA, they can't do it.

I'm posting this to let y'all know I'm done.

Goodbye

Fight it.

Fight it.
Not sure how to fight it, court was back in July, but have been talking with a headhunter who told me if it was just reckless without drugs or alcohol involved, she has carriers that can work with that because my past record is so clean.

Carolina Cargo specifically seeks out convicted felons and people with horrible driving records, whom nobody else will hire, and they treat them like shit because they know they can't work for anyone else.

Don't go that route.

Ask her to name some of those carriers. Carolina Cargo is the most infamous simply because their recruiters have been on here openly admitting that's their modus operandi, confirming the "rumors" as fact.

This should definitely not be your last post on here if you decide to look into these companies.

Traditional employer views that make them favor younger applicants have been changing since COVID. Younger people don't want to work any more, but older generations do, and have a better work ethic too.

So I wouldn't consider it to be over for you just because you're 61 years old.

We're here to advise you if you decide to keep trucking.

Your story doesn't sound THAT bad.

@krelithous still posts here and he's a lunatic real estate agent.

The young lady headhunter I've been talking to said US Express might take me to run home daily for Walmart out of Gordonsville.
Thanks for the encouraging words.
I probably wouldn't be too picky if I wrecked a bobtail BUT USX dedicated isn't so bad. At least it wasn't back in 2015 when I started.

I was so green the schedule sucked. But in hindsight it was okay. Brand new Peterbilt 579 trucks, no routing, no fuel plan.

That sounds like a pretty good gig.
Maybe it's different for the people on the actual account but to me it was gravy doing Walmart grocery for Schneider.

And when I was with USX we sometimes did Sam's Club/Walmart general. That was also gravy.

In both of those cases I was still on my respective not Walmart account (rail for Schneider and P&G for USX) and it was just helping out. Which meant we really didn't get specific training on it or tips or tricks or anything. We just went to the DC, grabbed loads, and did it. It was stupid easy work.
