Instant coffee..???

those timers (at least in the past) don 't work for very long.

i prefer the method of turning it on myself.

my Mr. Coffee does not have a ball stopper, but a plunger(??) with a spring, and rubber gasket.

it works ok, i can take the pot off the machine at any time while brewing, i don't necessarily get the drips from the plunger, but from the top of the pot as i remove it. there is (to me) a small hole on the top of the pot's lid. that should be bigger. i could drill it out, but then i'd have to wash out the pot.....

too much like work for me.
The machine that I bought and modified, Had many complaints in the reviews about the timer not working right. No big deal for me, If the timer gives up the ghost, I will just hit start manually. I can wait. Every morning I down a quart of water before I do anything.
I am not sure why sleeping is such thirsty work, But it is:confused-96:

@DrDaliah any thoughts on instant drinks over brewed and thier health concerns.>???

anyone here make up a cup from time to time, of instant coffee..??

i do, and have done so for many years. i know i can brew a pot, but sometimes i only want one cup, and i don't want to buy one of those Keurig machines. those little cups can cost more than the national debt.

of all the brands i have had over the years, Tasters Choice has been my favorite. i have the house blend right now, sitting beside me. the only thing too, is that i cannot drink instant coffees black. and i cannot have milk, so i use carnation powdered creamer....

i cannot seem to feel any effects of the caffeine in the instant coffee either. instant has caffeine, i just searched that, but i can fall asleep easily.

anyone drink instant coffee..??

how about hot chocolate..?? i use the instant type as well, over the milk (can't have milk)

teas..????

thanks in advance.
I believe there is more acrylamide in instant coffee than fresh brewed. Great question.

oh joy...glad i asked.

The discovery of acrylamide in some cooked starchy foods in 2002 prompted concerns about the carcinogenicity of those foods. As of 2014 it is still not clear whether acrylamide consumption affects people's risk of developing cancer.

Acrylamide? That's not cancer...that's flavor.
so were cyclamates....

But controversy developed when, in 1966, a study reported that some intestinal bacteria could desulfonate cyclamate to produce cyclohexylamine, a compound suspected to have some chronic toxicity in animals. Further research resulted in a 1969 study that found the common 10:1 cyclamate:saccharin mixture to increase the incidence of bladder cancer in rats. The released study was showing that eight out of 240 rats fed a mixture of saccharin and cyclamates, at levels of humans ingesting 350 cans of diet soda per day, developed bladder tumors.

I still use instant all the time. I can heat up some water real quick, make a mug and fill a thermos, and get moving. 5 min or less and no mess. Never been motivated to have a Mr. Coffee or some other kind of brewing setup in the truck. Just old school I guess. Given all the other things that can kill me, I waste no time worrying if instant will. Just plain to old to worry about it now.

The secret to good coffee is %18 cream! unless you take you coffee black, Then I don't know what your problem is:D
once you go black, you never go back...

i went "cold turkey" when i was a teen......

no milk, no cream, no sugar.....

only rarely when i am out and get a coffee, i ask for "2 creamers on the side"
