I'm fat, you're fat... (Dieting)

On vacation in Ireland I found it exceedingly difficult to maintain a Paleo stance, so I pretty much gave up. The first few days were riddled with stomach aches and roiling guts, but believe me your body gets back friendly with carbs as fast as it leaves it's friendliness with carbs, so by the end of the vacation I could eat anything with no problem.

As it stands now, I seem to have plateaued at about 15-17 pounds lost. I can still make adjustments, but I'm happy with this so far. I could for example....

....

hang on....

wait for it....

waaaaaaiiiitttt....

quit drinking beer.

GASP!
Ok, Lets not do anything rash here. There must be other ways of cutting out carbs without cutting your beer intake.

A few months ago I heard about a story explaining how a guy lost weight doing no additional exercise. I gave it a try a few weeks ago and have actually seen a couple of inches come off my waist already. The added kicker is I've saved lots of money on food as well!! Sounds too good to be true right? The only issue is that it takes quite a lot of discipline to get the results but when you drop from 224lbs to 215 in 3 weeks.

Jumped on the scale when I got home today. 5 pounds below the weight I was when I got married. Still adhereing to a Paleo stance....most of the time. In fact, I ran into a bit of a spot where I was stuck in a hotel, dependent upon fast food nearby and restaurants and figured "hell with it". Ate McDonalds, Pizza, Subway...

....and felt like absolute crap for three days.

Protein, veggies, and minimum carbs is the path for me from here out I think.

Down a full 23 pounds since I started this.

At last check last week on my bathroom scale, I was down to 154. Pretty sure I started at 188 or so, which puts me at over 30 pounds lost in six months just by making slight adjustments.

Now the bathroom scale is broken and my wife won't fix it because I'm beating her in total loss or something. Didn't know it was a contest....

Anyway, I'm suspending this Paleo stance for the most part for the holidays, there's just too much heavy carb food that I enjoy.

Like today for Thanksgiving, I fully anticipate stomach aches later on today and don't care. It'll be worth it.

I actually had a small baked potato last week too. What a wonderful creation they are!

I'm still around 155 or so. I got down to about 145-148, and I didn't like it. I wasn't comfortable at all with it,. I thought I started to look sickly.

So it's been just over a year, and I'm holding steady at 155 down from 188.

At this point, it doesn't bother me to go off the plan even a few days a week, because I've found exactly what works for me and even if I gain 5 pounds, I know I can shed it quickly.

That said, this really can be a big boomerang diet plan.

The issue I'm having lately is muscle cramping however, which means I need to incorporate more minerals. Mainly potassium.

I can probably scarf half a banana every now and then, and maybe even a small baked potato, but I'm certainly not giving up the mainstay of meat and veggies with very little carbs.

I find it pretty easy to follow, but have to be very picky in restaurants, and really don't like this bloaty, huge feeling that the last few days of eating bread and potatoes has given me. Can't wait to get back into it...

I am not sure how you feel about drinking the brine or Pickle juice? I happen to like it and it helps with muscle cramps, I get them in my foot and it wakes me at night.
