I run an average of 2,500 to 2,800 miles/week. My line haul rate is 98cpm and I get FSC and stop pay on top of that. I'm clearing over $1,000/week and working half as hard as you do. I just took a week off and did not go into the hole. Had a couple of short checks because my time off straddled two pay periods, but I did not go negative.

I've had a few expensive repairs recently, but had money set aside for that. I lost road time as a result of those repairs, but I did not go in the hole.

If you're only getting 5.2mpg, either your truck needs some serious work or you don't know how to drive it. I don't have or do anything special and I'm getting over 7.

Maybe he's with a different carrier. And maybe the 5.2 mpg is pulling 14 wide oversize or something. Or maybe it's got the 2010 EPA garbage on it.

The last job I pick up in Winnsboro TX drove to San Francisco .Ca And back to winnsboro TX in 4 days. It's not about driving it is about making money. And i did not need any stimulants to stay awake And i could do the speed limit in every state. DRIVE SAFE AND HAVE FUN

If he really did take a week off each month, he claims to have consistently run an average of 4,650 to 4,700 miles each week he was out. Giving 5 hours of the 70 for PTI, fueling, loading, unloading, etc, his average speed for the remaining 65 hours would be over 70 mph.

I don't. I don't have to. In fact, I rarely work up to the entire 70. Usually, when I pull the air brake for my weekly home time, I've used up about 65 hours. I stay home for two days and head out again.

See, when Swift went to electronic logs, it didn't really affect my work. My only complaint about e-logs is the intrusion they allow the company and the guv'mint. They certainly haven't affected my paycheck.

If you have to run that hard, break the speed limit and/or go over your hours to make it, you're either doing something wrong or you're with a crappy company.

Lazy? Nah...I just don't feel it's necessary to kill myself to make it. I live well. I have nice things, a nice home and money left over at the end of the month. I feel absolutely no need to run myself into an early grave, risk my record or tear up my equipment. Last week, I ran 2,350 miles and cleared $1,300. That's about 55cpm after everything...fuel, permits, truck payment, 10cpm to maintenance, etc...

You're saying you averaged 4,600 miles and $1,900 each week, after everything. That's a little over 41cpm.

Who's the one working too hard for too little?
