I've had either a pickup or delivery there, don't remember which. It's been a minute. Thing that blows my mind in that state is Texarkana. All of Arkansas is just downright depressing. It's so apparent in that specific city. Soon as you cross the border into Texas it's like you stepped into another universe. Worthy of a Twilight Zone episode. Everything goes from gross and busted to clean and pretty in one tenth of a mile.

One of the things I’ll always remember is crossing into Texas one night. The right combination of light and reflection made the cats eyes on the roads seem to light up for miles

People there are cool, and there's parking everywhere which is lovely. Those frontage roads scare the absolute bejesus out of me. Only reason I won't go back. If you're used to the setup and traffic flow I'm quite sure it's better than most places. However, I am not. I cant even guess how many close calls I've had there. When I was a company driver I was there maybe 10 or 12 times. Only once since I got my own truck. Went to Austin so that I could take an unregulated truck on the bypass. It was worth the toll. Speed limit is 85, had my girl up to 90. Worth every penny

This winter, I may end up just staying in the state for a while and running intrastate. Multiple gymnastics meets and a cross country meet to be there for, so it maybe easier to just take a load there to start my week on those weeks and just stay there bouncing between Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston.
I live here and can’t argue this at all.
Only exception is Northwest Arkansas, which is where I live. It is nothing like the rest of the state. Mostly thanks to the likes of Tyson, JB Hunt, Walmart, and the rest of the companies that have their headquarters here because of Walmart.

Intrastate runs are usually pretty good almost everywhere. High rate per mile, at least. Not always great payouts, but short runs seem to produce the highest yield per mile. Once I finish orientation Monday & Tuesday I'm heading directly back to Ohio. Not real likely I'll be straying far pretty much ever. Day rates are fantastic here.

Yeah, them $5/mile 100 miles runs that sit on your truck for two or three days are really profitable
